Does anyone know whether the new Filco boards use Cherry style stabilizers or the old "Costar" stabilizers? They are still manufactured by Costar, right?

QUOTE(horns @ Sep 25 2017, 06:22 PM) Gateron blues. On hindsight, I think this board pairs better with linear switches, since the keycaps are low profile (cherry height I think), makes the bottom out clacking sound not that satisfying (for blue switches anyway) But I think this can be easily remedied with aftermarket keycaps, I will have to try swapping out to a OEM profile Dolch set and see how This post has been edited by zongeva: Sep 25 2017, 07:43 PM |

QUOTE(irsyadfy @ Sep 25 2017, 07:47 PM) hopefully ur gat blues doesnt gets linear after awhile. Oh, do they? How long have you been using your Gat blues?i have experienced them. sadding. good board anyway For now my old Cherry blues feel less tactile than this Gateron blues, while the Kailh blues in my Magicforce68 seem to feel more tactile than both... QUOTE(horns @ Sep 25 2017, 08:06 PM) nice! until now i'm still not sure how to pair caps and switches lol i like cherry profile caps more for linear switches For me both cherry and OEM profile feel good with linear switches, so I think either way is good lol QUOTE(irsyadfy @ Sep 25 2017, 08:35 PM) 1 year+? i dunno how long the guy b4 me use it. but not that long oso i think. i bought it used, lost its clickyness, changed the switch, and sold it back. Yeah my Shine 2 also quite old already (bought when launched), still clicking strong though. Tactility I am not sure, maybe I got used to it lol. It's been my daily driver since the day I bought it.yes, blues are known to lost its clickyness, thats bad thing about blues. but damn i like typing on them. but the Filco blues i currently use is almost 4 years old, but the click still ok i think. |

I did however keep the spacebar which is PBT and is great to this day though it lost some slight rough texture for a bit of smoothness planning on upgrading and doing a new review for a more current model in the near future. i see ducky has led (with very adjustable settings like strobe and other effects for customization), Double shots/Pbt/dyesub keycaps, NKRO... it's got everything on my mkb checklist been a fan of ducky since day 1. hoping to see in person whether things have improved since just a recap |

QUOTE(horns @ Sep 26 2017, 12:06 AM) ok got it; lemme try out other profiles first I think the Ducky Shine/G2 series are made in different factory (Taiwan) compared to Zero series (China), there might be some difference in QC standards in both series.maybe i'm bad luck, but my ducky wobbles a lot for modifiers, strangely not so much for space bar :/ (the same happens to my masterkeys pro s also) this is why i don't like ducky and cm that much. (i don't have that with filco, varrmilo, or iKBC) coincidentally i just swapped the dark grey+blue caps on this ducky zero tkl/red (these caps reached today lol) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Nice caps by the way, I love mine on my G2pro too This post has been edited by zongeva: Sep 26 2017, 12:47 AM |

QUOTE(Nursh @ Oct 18 2017, 05:44 PM) Since domes are the main mechanism that gives electro-capacitive switches tactility and ability to rebound, you can try find 45g or 55g dome sheets from taobao when you purchase the plum. hmm, after changing the keycaps on my Tada68 (Gat blues) to OEM profile ones, the bottom out sound improved quite a bit, but then there is also the hollow sound due to the case design.
Today I put some non-slip pad to use as the case liner, the hollow sound is reduced significantly, leaving just enough low end for it to sound deep without sounding too hollow. Overall I am quite happy with this mod. |

QUOTE(horns @ Oct 31 2017, 02:39 AM) sweet this is a good idea that i haven't tried out yet. i wanna see if it can make the board more quiet, too I use those generic ones sold in Daiso.mind to share how you did it? what brand of non-slip pad is that? where to get it? It looks something like this, except way larger. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I cut them up and fill up the grooves in the case, then in the last sheet on the very top I just cut a larger sheet that can fill the whole perimeter of the case, and cut some holes for the screws. QUOTE(horns @ Nov 1 2017, 01:45 AM) yeah, but then while the click is very nice sounding, the tactile feel is rather weak. Novelkeys has BOX Navy which has heavier spring with thicker click bar, but I really hope someday Kailh can implement that thicker click bar into their BOX white with stock spring weight. But then again, it seems unlikely... |

QUOTE(300thecat @ Nov 26 2017, 05:56 PM) here is one random link i found on taobao: linkalternatively you can go for white on black side printed keycaps, which adds a bit of stealthy-ness on top of its professional look. If you are not too fixed on getting white on black, I do recommend black on dark grey PBT dye-subbed keyset too. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

QUOTE(Nursh @ Nov 10 2017, 04:49 PM) Anyone with Tada 68 keyboard here? My keyboard is having an issue where I can't really click CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to pop out Task Manager window, I did swap out FN key with Alt because I'm used with Magicforce 68 layout. However, there are many option for FN key, but they're in Chinese. Anyone can tell me which 1 is the correct one to choose from? I think I chose the wrong one and my keyboard is acting strange when i CTRL+ALT+F4. Hi there, I am using the default layout here. I think your issue lies within SHIFT+ESC part. With the default layer, SHIFT+ESC produces "~". So I think you have to remap the default ESC/~ into pure ESC for you to use the task manager hotkey properly. Also finally my CM QF TK has a new look. Damn hard to find replacement caps. The translucent parts do have some inconsistency, but man they feel much better than stock caps. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by zongeva: Nov 28 2017, 08:34 AM |

Input Club's Hako True/Clear switches pre-order period has been extended to 20th this month.
Is anyone buying these? I am really intrigued by the last gen's Halo switches but never got the chance to try them. These Hakos seem to have reasonable price too. This post has been edited by zongeva: Dec 7 2017, 11:26 AM |

QUOTE(horns @ Dec 7 2017, 01:10 PM) if you like tactile bumps, it's worth a try. it was said that these kailh-derived box switches have the least wobbles, and has a crazy long lifespan of 80mil strokes (tbh i still cannot find a good source that can tell us how they achieve that number) I have a switch tester that includes Kailh BOX Black and Red, both of them feels amazing. I put them in my Zhuque to try them out, and they are very smooth indeed. Compared to my Cherry MX Red board and another with Gateron Blacks side by side, I find them slightly smoother than the Gaterons. Typically I don't really care for key wobbliness, but these BOX switches definitely have less wobble.i will get their linear box switches (red, black) first. believe it or not, kailh is said to be the no.1 mechanical switches manufacturer in china now. I still have about two weeks to consider whether to get the Hako switches or not. To be honest I am still kinda torn on what switch do I want to put on my XD75re, haha. |

QUOTE(horns @ Dec 7 2017, 05:59 PM) it's nice to hear that. i prefer lubed switches over stock; and keys that wobble are not nice imo, especially for modifiers and space bar. I think you will like them. xd75re supports switch hot-swapping. just get what you want most edit: damn cannot resist the curiosity, just ordered some red and black hehe If only there are 67g springs that are compatible with BOX switches, then these can be the budget Tealios (provided if one has the patience to mod and further lube them...) |
