The A/B Maintenance Minder service depends on your driving conditions. Hilly locations / traffic jams will deteriorate the oil life faster. Fastest I heard / seen is 6,500KM. At the moment, my oil life is always at normal 10,000KM - I'm using Honda 0W-20 Fully Synthetic. My daily commute is 5min (home-work) with little traffic jam.

However, I noticed that even if my maintenance minder oil life drops below 10,000KM, a drive to a longer distance on the highway (JB to Batu Pahat  / Melaka / KL) will increase the oil life back to 10,000KM. In fact, I've had the oil life increased to 10,200KM tongue.gif
Yes so yours is not the norm since your commute is too short and no traffic.

What about the other TCP owners? What is the average lifespan of your engine oil?

My own ride (BMW F10) normally gets me about 7K intervals and my daily commute is about 35mins 1 way in heavy traffic. But I don't mind serving as often as possible as we have a free servicing package for 5 yrs or 100K.

e.g. After servicing, oil life reset back to 10,000KM
Drive for 1,000KM (city) oil life now is 8,500KM - oil life used 1,500KM instead of 1,000KM (Total Oil Life is 9,500KM)
Drive for another 1,000KM (highway) oil life now is 8,000KM - oil life used 2,000KM - back to normal again (Total Oil Life back to 10,000KM)

The above is my personal experience, YMMV smile.gif

Same concept as Fuel Consumption,  why la my 1.5 civic put rm50 3 day habis liao, while other 1.5tc put rm50 can run 1 week, then u everyday also 180km/h , sure consump more fuel right, hence u need to pay more for fuel
Did u know that travelling at a higher but constant speed actually saves more fuel than travelling in stop start traffic? That's why in city urban FC is always worse than highway unless ure travelling really fast. biggrin.gif

Don't have average figure yet, but for my first 10k service i got it at 10k for engine oil life(assuming that i really drive 10k, total car mileage left to service = to the service minder A remainder) so it is the same mileage as service interval. PJ - KL daily weekdays trip and 20% highway.

I drive at D all the time, and always like to drive at the optimal side (the green indicator). I would say I drive sensibly on the road.

yes the oil minder will really drop faster if keep on stuck at traffic jam , but if keep on High Rev actually also drop the oil faster too, really need depend on the user that drive the car , but what i read is going Up Hill actually drain the minder more than stuck on traffic jam

In my hometown there is no up hill , down hill , and no traffic jam , i use my car just for work go and back 2km only biggrin.gif So i believe my car can tahan until 6 month only service once

Among my fren asking me why i choose the turbo charge and need to pay extra maintenance since i'm really a driving slow person , normal drive 70-100km/h , hardly go above 100kmh because i always fetch my kid so i'm a safe person , even i drive my honda city , i always keep rpm around 2-3k hardly reach 4k , but i just told my friend that i choose 1.5tcp isn't because the engine , is because the sexy LED head light + the leather seat , if there is 1.8 Civic with Full Spec , i will definitely take it

I know we can install the LED head lamp outside (the price is really high) + leather seat (not cheap too) , so just get the P and enjoy the new 1.5tc engine rclxms.gif

Ya i also notice that..after 6k tyre noise getting louder. When new is very quiet.. now a lot of front tyre noise. MC5 really  bangwall.gif

Thinking to do sound proofing on front wheel arch. if u notice there are sound proofing on rear wheel arch but not for front (just plastic).

Not sure can help to reduce tyre noise effectively or not. Need some feedback.
*
perhaps it's the tyre's fault. The irony is that I was in the market to change tyre for my other car and they recommended MC5 as a silent tyre. I said "ya rite!"

1.5 https://www.honda.com.my/model/maintenance/civic?id=62
1.8 https://www.honda.com.my/model/maintenance/civic?id=63

For 1.5, the cost of oil change is not included in the final amount. Later, look under "additional items" in your service sheet - anything under that is OPTIONAL, and you have the right to request to remove it, especially if it's "engine cleaner" nonsense.

Planning to get the Trapo carpet.

Is it necessary to remove the original carpet before setting the Trapo in ? Or you can just lay on top ? According to the CS of Trapo, it might not stick well with our carpet. Any review from the members members here ?

Or is it better to go for the traditional maggi mee type ?

From what I understand, a maximum of 1000km is allowed. More than that, Honda has the right to void your warranty (if any).

I did a brief rating comparison between the common tyres in the market today to give you all an idea of how each tyres rates against competitors.

This is only based on 5 criteria so may be a bit skewed.

But in terms of dry & wet grip, the Continental Sports Contact 6 and Michelin PS4 are right up there. Both coincidentally also possess high Comfort ratings too. Although, the CSC6 wears much faster than all tyres on that list.

I guess the Michelin PS4 is a clear standout in terms of overall handling and comfort.
