Don't think HM will recall for it, only settle it with owners who are making serious complaints because only some owners having this issue and wondering why other some are not affected?

Now come to my dilemma. Thinking to take 1.8s or 1.5tc. I may not need such powerful car at the moment but worry that i might regret for not taking 1.5tc in the future. 1.8 power is decent to me but i don't like the rim and fabric seat. If i would upgrade my rim to 17 inches, would it impact to engine power? If i go for 1.8 with some upgrade like wrap leather seat and change bigger rim, does it worth to do that or i just go for 1.5tc better? Some of you may have same situation like me, how do you overcome your own frustration and make the choice?
*
1.8 is worth buying for the specs atthough it is fabric. It depends on your budget, i will go for it if i come from previous car is not honda, and 1.8 engine is reliable engine that been used for many years.

My dad in dilemma wanna trade his FD1 for FC 1.5TCP.

Should he wait for facelift model or buy the current one  hmm.gif
*
How old is your dad's FD1? as i know FD1 price has dropped very much since after new civic come out.

New facelift civic won't be soon coming out. If your dad can get FD1 sold at higher price, should consider to buy current one since now year end got huge discount for civic.

I bought the 1.8, and to be honest I am worry unable to afford the 1.5t in long run.  I did regret and jelly those 1.5t.
*
My view on whoever bought 1.8 is more practical and budget concern. It is wise choice considering no big difference except different engine but 1.8 is powerful enough.

In fact i bought 1.5t when i see 1.8 on the road driving side by side with me, i feel they are more worthy with the price they've paid and they don't need to worry with the new issues popping out for 1.5 turbo engine and maintenance etcs.

very keen to know any issues you had with 1.5turbo! Tq.
*
The only issue that i had is when the car on idling or stopped, it is vibrating but very minor that i can feel it.
I suspect there is loose hose that cause it, but when check with SC, they claimed it is normal for this civic, again it come back to QC of Honda Malaysia, as for consumer like us, no choice have to keep complaining to SC since it has 5 years warranty - problem is they normally will push away the small issues if they can that ended up you will bear with the small issues until it become big problem then only they will get it solved for you.

The biggest challenge is after 5 years which is no warranty covered, it will cost a lot to maintain 1.5t civic. I will choose 1.8 if i wanna drive it for 10 years. 1.5T civic i probably will sell if after 5 years depends on its reliability.

Guys thanks for the feedback. I have actually place booking for civic, but i have yet to decide to go for 1.8 or 1.5. Personally like the 1.5tc spec but worry about the maintenance later. Does 1.5 cost alot problem to u all?
*
both also provide 5 years warranty.

go for 1.5t if you need more power (turbo) & leather seat.

problem for both variants normally caused by QC of Honda Malaysia, can be rectified so depend on your luck.

When i go pump petrol, i take the key with me, leave the passenger inside the car, problem is the car will auto lock if i walk away, and since passenger inside the car so will trigger the alarm.

What should i do if i wanna take the key with me but also leave the passenger inside the car in this case?

You can choose to disable the walk away auto-lock under keyless access setup if I'm not mistaken.

Alternatively, if the passenger is your wife..you can give her the spare key  tongue.gif

Not an ideal solution every time go petrol station need to disable walk away auto lock feature.

This is something need to improve on walk away features.

I haven't try but this car has a motion sensor inside car if I am not mistaken. Please refer to manual. U can disable the motion sensor with long press on button on bottom right of ur steering wheel. So when the car auto lock and ur wife inside the car, alarm will not go off. Try it.
*
Useful info. Will try it by referring the manual. thanks

I leave the key in the car and ask the passenger to lock the car from the inside. smile.gif Yes, it is annoying but such is life. Lol. More annoying is when I open the petrol tank lid, put petrol then cant close it back because the car's locked itself. Have to unlock the car to close the lid. -.-"

Should always bring the key with you (for security) - let me check whether can switch off the motion sensor mentioned by @Gyno.
It would be the best if it can be done, walk away auto lock will activate while your passenger is inside but will not trigger the alarm.

Tested. It works by turn off the motion sensor (after off engine) while passenger inside car and I am pumping the petrol, walk away auto lock activated, no alarm sound triggered.

When u start the engine, the motion sensor will auto on back.
