Manpad have limited range.. which is good for low flying plane or helis but only certain manpads can reach air liner cruising height. Medium range or long range all can reach. The best way however is to avoid flying those zone to eliminate the risk

S400 is manned by Russia.. i doubt they will shoot another passenger planes without warning unless they willing to take the backlash.

give rebels then helis will be at risk... commercial flights too.. you never know when they would transfer and smuggle it to another country and use it for other purposes

Russian Army Holds Drills in Far East Using Deadly Tyulpan Mortars

VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) — The mortar squads of the Eastern Military District artillery divisions in Russia's Primorsky Territory conducted military exercises, Eastern Military District spokesman Vladimir Matveev said on Monday.

"An artillery division was raised by the emergency drill alarm and moved in a short time to the specified region. The division marched through mock infected areas and reflected a mock enemy attack," Matveev told journalists.

According to Matveev, the artillery division had practiced the deployment of the self-propelled mortars 2S4 Tyulpan and struck a mock enemy avoiding the retaliatory strike.

Self-propelled mortar 2S4 Tyulpan is considered to be one of the most powerful in the world, with a 240 mm caliber and 20 kilometers (12.43 miles) range. At such range, Tyulpan can destroy fortified buildings, enemy troops and armed vehicles.

unless the rebels operate Il76 Transport aircraft, I doubt they would mistaken anything in the sky for a Boeing 777.
Plus, I'm pretty sure the missiles aren't armed, considering the repercussions of not shooting down a commercial airliner is worse, cause that would mean they have shot down a NATO aircraft, meaning WWE3 tongue.gif

This is exactly the kind of escalation that Obama and Clinton was hoping to avoid. Well done, Trumpers bangwall.gif

more like the other way round. The investigation board has concluded its Russia already, but the Kremlin has been pushing alternative explanations since the very start: almost every single MH17 conspiracy theory can be traced back to initial broadcasts on various Russian media.

A critic of Putin who published a report covering MH17 in detail has even been assassinated: Boris Nemtsov.

New controversy hits Israel sub deal over Iran link

user posted image

QUOTE
Media reported that Iranian holding company IFIC continues to own a 4.5 percent stake in the German firm.

"Israeli money, Iranian profits," a headline in the newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said Sunday.

ThyssenKrupp told AFP that IFIC owned around seven percent of the company until May 2003, when it fell below five percent, without providing details on the size of its current stake, if any.

Reports at the time said the United States had pressured ThyssenKrupp to reduce Iran's stake to below five percent.

The Iranian state's representative on the company's supervisory board was also removed.

Israel is reportedly negotiating to buy the three submarines at a combined price of 1.2 billion euros ($1.3 billion), to replace the oldest vessels in its existing Dolphin fleet, which began entering service in 1999.

It already has five of the state-of-the-art German submarines, with a sixth due for delivery in 2017, Maariv newspaper reported.

Pakistan Is About to Buy a Half-Million New Rifles

A Czech weapon is the favorite

user posted image

QUOTE
The Pakistani army launched a search for a new infantry rifle in November 2015. Preliminary trials took place at the beginning of 2016 with five rifles — the FN SCAR, CZ-806 BREN 2, Zastava M21, Beretta ARX-200 and Kalashnikov AK-103.

The army appears to have tentatively selected the CZ-806 BREN 2.

It’s unclear exactly which caliber the new Pakistani BREN 2 might fire, but initial reports suggested a move toward NATO’s standard 5.56-by-45-millimeter round. However, C.Z. appears to have also offered the BREN 2 chambered in 7.62-by-39-millimeter.
QUOTE
The BREN 2 is versatile and modular enough to meet multiple operational requirements — and could simplify training if Pakistan retains both the 7.62-by-39 and 7.62-by-51 calibers. C.Z.’s rifle is also more cost-effective to manufacture than the FN SCAR or Beretta ARX-200 are — an important factor for the cash-strapped Pakistani military.
QUOTE
The CZ-806 BREN 2 represents a massive improvement in capability and modularity over the Pakistani army’s current Cold War-era small arms. The 806 has the benefit of being a refinement of the earlier 805 used by the Czech armed forces. In 2015 C.Z. made weight and production cost reductions by improving the 806’s manufacturing process.

Following operational feedback from the Czech army, C.Z. made a number of ergonomic improvements to the 806, adding a new folding stock and a non-reciprocating cocking handle and adjusting to the rifle’s ambidextrous controls.
