well, i wouldnt underestimate the will of the PRC... while its not appropriate to bring politics into this thread, it has an effect on national security and geo politics..

2nd both klang n jb have industries nearby mlk dont have therefore its role as an export import port wont work, might it be a regional transshipment port like sg? no, that's in the hands of western shipping companies and the biggest market in the region indonesia wont buy into it.. so what's left? resupply port? which is most likely...
3rd, other port near south asia can be a precedence of what's to come..
4th short term it would be good for msia, but the populus wont benefit much as like most big prc projects they bring in their own materials and people... long term wise, msia loses that portion of waterfront
