Seriously 75 times and nothing?!

75 times @ bigpay (which is RM7500) almost hit the ceiling of the max limit allow (RM10k)... will ring the bell of bp and they might block or investigate you...

just don't go too far ...hehe
*
Even if they call to investigate, all he has to do is tell the truth, which really isn't a big deal and hasn't broken any rules.

Many people hit 10k a month easily, and the PBB weekly swipes competition resulted in TONS of people swiping 8xRM100 every week in quick succession, without anyone being investigated.

Even reload 10k and withdraw cash 10k should not be a problem?

ONE case. Reload and withdraw 65k in less than 2 months. 'Only 65k', he said (and then totally disappeared from the forums).

Yet until now people want to bring it up to justify "oh this sort of usage is dangerous" when it's nowhere close in quantum....

However you choose to use it, if they call, just tell the truth and take it from there.

Ultimately the maximum is RM10k, which isn't a MASSIVE sum of money in the grand scheme of things.

Even in a worse case scenario, having to provide documents / answer questions isn't a big deal to me. If they ever call me, I'd just ask what the problem was and stop doing it if it breaches any of their policies.

Anyway, this is getting a little OT. Can go to BP page if you want to read more about this.

I thought annual fee waiver is given upon request, no question asked.
After all, we have done these for many years.

Today my father called Standard Chartered (asked him to dump this bank few years ago, but well ...), there's an annual fee of RM300 and service tax RM25 on the bill, when called to customer service, the officer advised that these fees are no longer entitled for waiver, for Malaysia has been practicing new rule of xxxx....

I was giggling sarcastically, with a look of "i told you so".

Is that true, that banks now opting to stop annual fee waiver? Or is he merely being fulled by a customer officer?

I think you should post this under the SCB thread.

Sometimes they waive, sometimes they only waive after you decide to cancel the card. Applies to any bank.

Definitely more than 12 times. And the amount is not trivia (eg, his has travel spending near to 5 figure last month).
Never mind, he has decided to terminate that card (Good call!). Having this card for over than 10 years. It's about time. biggrin.gif

When my father called to terminate the card, another officer turned out more helpful, promised "to look after the annual fee thing and will revert back after 3 working days".

This could make my father think twice and have the card retained, if the annual fee being waived then. Darn it! dry.gif

Normal practice is to call before your yearly cycle comes up and they bill you right?

If after they bill you, liks TS case, if cannot waive and you decide to cancel. Meaning you need to pay the annual fee and SST also?

No, i "always" called after being billed. And never failed to have the waiver applied.

My first cc was ... 2001? If i remember correctly, and at peak i have 4 cc, since the new rule of 2 cards, I've voluntarily canceled all with 1 retained, mainly for cheaper movie tickets.
Had missed a few annual fee waiver, because i forgot to call. My bad. Although there was once i got the annual fee reversed even after 2-3 months. It was a lazy afternoon and i called for fun. Didn't expect the customer service was so helpful. So, I'm very sure waiver after being billed would work, at least it would in the past.

But now that I've canceled my last cc last year, not sure how things work these days. tongue.gif

Citibank waived my annual fee once and happily allowed me to cancel my card the next. That was 15 years ago.
