Anyone used SC Mastercard for foreign transactions? I made a purchase in Euro and understand SC charge 1% based on the foreign amount but when I refer to Mastercard exchange rate website ( https://www.mastercard.us/en-us/consumers/g...t-currency.html ), the amount converted to RM is much higher.

In my case, not only 1%, as I calculated the difference 2-2.2%. It's quite high.

wtf this standard chartered. i applied justone credit card for the air fryer from ringgit plus. its been 1 and half month, now only i get a card, picked it up from the post office today. when i get home, its not even the justone card, its worldmiles, which i never applied for. after calling customer service, apparently the sales team applied two cards for me (one is worldmiles which i never consented for). there is another card at the post office but yeah, since they applied the other card without my consent, i didn't know there were supposed to be two cards.

im so pissed off now. is this legally allowed? can I do anything about this?
not only the process is so slow, but the applied additional useless card for me. don't care about the free gift anymore, just gonna cancel both cards asap.

anyone can advice me what can i do? i asked the customer support, their advice is basically talk to the useless sales team who conned me.

not illegal, but more to unethical business practice. other banks are doing the same, CIMB is notoriously-famous on doing this. i remember someone in this subforum gotten 5 cards after applying just 1 card.

if you want to take it up a notch, escalate to BNM and cc to bank, for their unethical practice. even for doing so, bank would just cancel the cards.

else, since you gonna cancel the cards, just terminate them and have a peace of mind instead (more worth than arguing with banks).

there are many options out there anyway.


fyi, going thru RP is always a risk to late responses, etc. most ppl attracted to the gifts, but smart ones would apply directly from bank and start reaping the card's benefits ASAP!

Agent that want to maximize their commission.
I heard they said world miles give higher commission.
I always tell the agent, if I get the card i dont want, i will cancel all.

Actually nothing to be pissed off .. Its normal for the salesteam to apply more cards for customer to earn more commision . Just dont activate the worldmiles card and call cs to cancel it . The salesteam cant earn the commision if you cancel it

That's normal practice for sales to try their luck for extra commission, no matter what bank there will always somebody do like that. so get used to it, and since you had call customer service, why not you just tell them to cancel away your unwanted card?

i also just received my card last week, but i did not get additional card as your case. i clearly tick only the card i wanted to apply during fill application form. and i get the highest CL among all cards i have, need make a call to them to reduce CL as i don't see any neccessary for this card to have over 20k CL...

*called CS today only manage to reduce to minimum CL at 12k. i requested 6k but CS said justone plat minimum CL is 12k, no choice then.

I also ticked only the card I wanted. And specifically told them i ONLY want justone, since they keep on promoting worldmiles. How can this be a normal practice in the industry? Yeah, I can call them to cancel, but the point is they're using my application details without my consent. What's next? Are they going to apply for me personal loans? Signed me up for life insurance? How do we know they're not using our application details for something else?
I kinda understand why they do it, they want extra commission, but this is probably borderline fraud.
