I'm sorry .it was on sunday and I don't remember the key word.

it was maybe a combination of schlumberger+hiring+ 2009

or something close.

it was just a random article that I come across by some europe news or something like that.

haha i too cannot find the article again.

maybe it's an old article, but as far as i know, recruiting won't start again until 2nd half of the year. And there's gonna be a review done internally in may/june with regards to the retrenchment thing.

i see but how does it affect the one that has gone through up to final assessment?

i've read response on people that has been delayed a long time and the response was to call the hiring/training manager instead of hr because the hr is incompetent.

well, honestly i have no complete picture...but looking at current situation when there's hardly any locations in the world looking for new people, and not to mention the transfer of engineers currently overseas back to their home country, it'll take a while.

so you can't blame the HR ppl as well since they are just following orders from Dubai and these guys from Dubai are waiting for general orders from HQ in Houston. So basically everyone's waiting like you until the situation gets better.

Also, it's been announced there won't be any cutbacks in R&D, so if you've got an offer in that area, you should be quite safe.

And officially, you're not hired until you've been to OFS1 since your seniority date usually starts on the 1st day of your OFS1.

I hope at least you got some answers here, but don't take everything i say as the absolute truth since there's always exceptions.

if you google it, there's high chances that the website is saved in your browser history. Just press Control-H and look up on the websites you have been to on Sunday and you should be able to retrieve it.
But i do believe that the current economy situation doesnt really favour anyone atm. The corporation as a whole and also its employee.

yeah but I was using my computer back in malacca and I clean out the key word every time after log off. firefox set up.

we'll just have to see how it goes. no use pressuring the company since we all know how it is nowadays.

Yes, I am working but not at Slb. I have received an email containing my rejection for my application at Slb. That's it... life goes on and success to everyone around here that will go to a Slb interview or is expecting an answer from them.

At least you got a slot tongue.gif Hopefully it would get better by then..but I doubt it because the forecast is at least 2 years before they can recover...when you got in..don't stay below the radar, make nice with everyone (i mean trough jobs performance.. biggrin.gif ) and reporting..they have no trouble releasing anyone..we're all numbers afterall. Let go one..ten will come.. biggrin.gif

no i didn't get the offer letter. i was saying it's true they've freeze their hiring

basically their email was like

'due to economic recession we cannot finalized your interview results until june'

and my friend received

"there are no post available" which when they call hr it means they're unsuccessful.

in conclusion, if the economy situation looks better or progressively better in june, i MAYBE get the job.

so finger cross and hoping for the best. all i can say i'm glad the issue is done and i can relax till june.
