QUOTE(strawberrypear @ Feb 11 2009, 06:07 PM) There's stories behind French MNC companies. Alcatel, Alstom, Schlumberger, .. err...where do u got this news? Many Schlumberger staffs and departmental heads have recently left. Major restructuring/rearrangement going on with their departments there. The public is not aware of this even fro the news. |

QUOTE(azhanblur @ Feb 15 2009, 02:26 AM) Hi all, what? they sacked u oredi? mind to elaborate based on what criteria they choose to retrench their employees? i.e. performance wise, seniority, available workloads..Just to inform you guys.. Schlumberger just started the '2nd wave' of releasing its employees.. As of yesterday I am no longer SLB employee .. Although I'll be eligible for re-hiring when thing got better, its not going to be that way for at least 2 years..that's how bad things are this year. I also heard rumors that many new trainee are being held, as no place is available for them at this moment. As for me, I'll try others service companies but chances are slim..If no job for me here, I'll be heading home at the end of this month. any info is a great help.. |

QUOTE(strawberrypear @ Feb 15 2009, 03:06 PM) Based on seniority, politics and role. this is true for slb or u juz generalizing it? its true most of company are doing this..but i hope sumone can tell me what exactly in slb they are looking for to sack the employee.Seniority as in LIFO Politics as how involved, influential and good with your bosses Role as in how important you're to the company. What kind of skills you have which others do not. This is related to experience so newer and lower position staffs get the axed first |

QUOTE(strawberrypear @ Feb 15 2009, 03:44 PM) No I'm not generalizing here. okies..so, dats the informal ways to inform wats really going on in slb, is it? hehe..thanks..i tot u r juz generalizing...We are not supposed to leak out further information because the computers/laptop that we use have monitoring and keyloggers installed even with our email clients. Where I've got my sources its up to you to believe or not. This is through my discussions with my superiors in Europe. whooaa, now they didn't wan to coach the newbie in slb? there is like someone to look after trainee rite? i thinks its like personal manager..to guide trainee for exam/school etc2...correct me if im wrong.. |

QUOTE(strawberrypear @ Feb 16 2009, 12:20 AM) I'm not implying that they are not going to coach you. They will. After that you're mostly on your own, due to the stiff competition in SLB, you are required to work independently with minimal help from others. You'll know I'm trying to tell once you are accepted and assigned to your work next time. can u specify at which moment/duration of coaching "after that" is referred to? is it until finish school or breakout etc2...thanks |

QUOTE(milleu @ Feb 16 2009, 09:21 AM) I do think that every single job is like that. maybe u shud google it oso.. gave you a task..off you go doing it. certainly can ask question but there must be initiative to do it independently. why on earth this recession must happen during the time I just graduated. but funny thing is, I just googled about slb hiring, and the hiring manager in europe just gave an interview on their hiring and that they're positive on hiring new trainees.8000 per year. oh well, again that's an interview so of course it was positive. |

QUOTE(zeusu @ Feb 17 2009, 11:00 AM) maybe it's an old article, but as far as i know, recruiting won't start again until 2nd half of the year. And there's gonna be a review done internally in may/june with regards to the retrenchment thing. wow..thanks for the info dude..btw "recruiting" as in searching new fresh grad or as in hired-but-waiting for OFS-1? |

better to contact the recruiter from time to time regardless she/he is frenly or strict watsoever..at least they will notice how interested u r wif slb.. juz dun contact too frequent as u will may irritate them..heheh~
@ milleu: wat do u mean "in a mess"? if im not mistaken, if u hv gone for 3rd-4th stage of slb interview, they will hv dedicated file to keep track all ur records + progresses...unless she threw all the file away then they will find ur stuff.. *sigh* Added on May 16, 2009, 9:20 pm@kira_ryuk juz call direct line slb then ask for her..they will get her on the line, provided she's in on dat day..
