Depends on the system and requirement.
Some system HIK is better than Dahua, some is the other way.

For example, if u want fullcolor camera, HIK is better than Dahua.
If u want active deterrence analog camera, Dahua is better than HIK.
For entry level IP, Dahua is better than HIK.

Both hv pro and con.

Hello..
in my foyer there is 1 light point on the ceiling..
I plan to install CCTV (Aqara/EZVIZ) with 2 way communication.. since i dont really need to install light there..
Is it advisable to do so? Any recommended camera that can use AC power?.. Saw some video online.. for this smart camera, they are using type C camera and it looks really stupid with the cable dangling around hahaha.. Is there a proper way to do it?

(I planned to use the existing AC power point provided cause dont want to make extra mess or a lot of effort to install smart camera outside.)

Is it plaster ceiling? If not you will need a box to store the DC12 or DC5V adapter. There is also some special make cover that fit perfectly to the camera back for adapter storage if it's a concrete ceiling.

Yeah. Its a plaster ceiling.
I’m planning to get the Aqara camera since im using Aqara smart lock as well. Or another option EZVIZ.
The DC12 adapter i need to buy something like the 3pin adapter? Or is there any other way to hide the cable?

Just hide this inside the plaster ceiling, downside is if need replace got to take out the camera.Just an example
Sorry, yours is a wall? Concrete?

I don't know about Mi ip camera but was testing a Vicohome battery unit also make me vomit blood, cannot have full time recording, only when PIR triggered it will record and the clip 10-30secs only bangwall.gif
This type of Soho camera is just not meant to be used for security, more like a toy! brows.gif

Imilab EC3 can record all the time
but the playback time is 1 minute like that
even take out the microSD card, the video files will be 1minute for each like that, meaning there will be many video files...
if like that playback is very time consuming and hard...
i no sure got setting to set or not, but i cant find it...

After reading the posts here, I’m likely to go with HIkvision or Dahua. I’m looking for a POE system with 8 channels and at least 5MP camera resolution. It seems that both Dahua and Hikvision has few POE options for this configuration after I looked in Lazada and Shopee

Reolink has more POE options but I understand from forummers’ posts that Reolink night time recording is not as good as Hilvision or Dahua

Any recommendation for a POE system from Hikvision or Dahua?

Installed at home

5 outdoor, 3 indoors

2 way audio with active deterrence is OK if it doesn't add too much to the cost
