Asking the thread starter for some advice. No budget restraints but no need to go over the top. Got dogs around to help out. New build so wiring also not a problem. Which system would you recommend if:

1) Outdoor monitoring only.
2) 4-6 cameras.
3) Say keep the video for 48 hours then rewipe.
4) Hopefully can view the video from TV channel. Say channel 13-17.
5) Night vision or at least low light.
*
1. Outdoor Monitoring, you need weatherproof camera
2. 4 - 6 cameras? 4 cameras, use 4ch DVR, if 6 cams, hv to use 8ch DVR
3. Put 1 1TB HDD, record 24hrs, FullHD 6Cams, can keep up to 1week and DVR will overwrite for you automatically
4. use HDMI, switch source/input on TV to connected HDMI Input
5. Now night vision is standard, Full HD Camera even got color at night.

Need help guys, read the info but too technical for me.

Basically I bought a wireless system for rm1k however guy said need to change battery every 6months or so. So the wired alarm is better but cost me rm2k with extra keypad and without windows detector. Is it a fair price? Booked during expo.

The CCTV would cost another rm2k!

Wondering if I should just get wireless ip camera as I only need 2 and power point is ready. [attachmentid=8184944][attachmentid=8184945]
*
Hi, the Alarm price ok, reasonable.
But for CCTV, 2 Cameras RM2k??
Our price is 4Cameras 2k, some more using Cynics HDTVI FullHD. Not AHD which is the lowest quality among all technology.

How to know if the DVR can receive via wirelessly?
I am looking at DS-7200HGHI-SH HIK Vision
*
HIKVISION DVR don't support WIFI Dongle like DAHUA DVR.
If you want connect the HIKVISION DVR Wirelessly with your router, go get an Access Point, example: Dlink DAP-1360

Install SPD

The Surge Protection Device (SPD) is a component of the electrical installation protection system.

This device is connected in parallel on the power supply circuit of the loads that it has to protect (see Fig. J17). It can also be used at all levels of the power supply network.

This is the most commonly used and most efficient type of overvoltage protection.

Instead of NVR
Is an intel atom powered PC sufficient for IMVS 4500 with hikvision cameras?
Saw an ad for use intel Hewlett-Packard T5740
Since I'm only doing motion detected recording, I could place an ssd inside

However, is processing power enough to for 4mp camera recording with IVMS for pc?
*
Better use NVR.

Hi I intend to install a CCTV system for my house. I wanted to find out more on the recording of the images. When i survey internet, most of the CCTV systems come with DVR and the images are recorded on your hard disk. If let's say there is a break-in and the thief took away the harddisk, how do we retrieve the recorded video feed? Can we have some sort of external server storage? Who provides such services and how much is it?
Newbie here, appreciate some advice
*
First of all, we always recommend client to hide the DVR, instead of put beside the TV in Living Room or any place which is so obvious.
Second, our DVR can link to a NAS (Network Storage) or link to Dropbox, GoogleDrive, so in case DVR stolen, u still can retrieve footage from Cloud.
Another option is, at another place, use a PC (installed client software) to record.

Hi, i am planning to install cctv for my new house but i have no knowledge on this.
May i know how you all install the cctv? DIY or ask the seller install for you?
If i ask my electrician to place the Cat6 cable first then only ask the CCTV seller help me install, will it cause any issue and will it cost cheaper? Thank you.
*
Actually nowadays, a lot good and cheap system use Coax cable (RG59 / RG6), like TVI, CVI, AHD..
Still, if u lay CAT6, then u hv 1 more option, which is IP, by adding balun, TVI, CVI, AHD can run on Network cable also.

U can ask wireman to lay cable 1st, then buy system from CCTV seller, cost will be cheaper also. But make sure before ur wireman lay the cable, get consultation from cctv seller, like camera location, dvr location, what cable to use, etc...

Anyway, if ur house at klang valley, we can help u too.. :-)
Any question jz PM me.

My wireman has wired RG59 and power cables to 4 locations ( 2 outdoor and 2 indoors) the coax and power cables all come to the living room where the decoder and power supply is to be fixed.

Can you recommend me a budget friendly 4 channel CCTV with the following requirements:

HD CVI or TVI
2 bullets for outdoor weather and waterproof and 2 dome for indoor with high resolution 4MP or above available? With IR for night vision too.
A 4MP or above recorder with 25fps recording and playback for ALL 4 channels at MAXIMUM HD resolution.
A suitable surveillance hard disk
Power supply for the 4 cameras

Feel free to recommend something else if the above is not viable. But would prefer the above if possible.

Since the wiring is all ready, all I need isĀ  simple service to attach the cameras to the walls/ceiling which is at conveniently accessible locations and plugging in the decoder and power supply. Should be a 30 minutes job. How much do you charge for this simple installation service? Please breakdown the installation separately as I want to know if I can DIY.
Please provide the model numbers of the recorder and cameras too.
*
Budget System is 2Megapixel, 3Megapixel above will be expensive.
Also, DVR nowadays max 1080P@25fps Real Time Record.. For those 3Mpx/4Mpx DVR, only 15fps Record.

Are there difference types for poe splitters in the market? There's like 48v to 12v etc etc.. From PoE enabled NVR to non PoE camera, any idea what should I use?

I have never used ezviz cloud before. I only use IVMS app on my iphone to view the cameras. Any differences using ezviz cloud?
*
You are asking PoE NVR to Non-PoE IPCam, then you need to buy PoE IEEE 802.3af Splitter, Output must be 12V (Some big or PTZ Cam, use 24V). And check how many Watt also. Must match with your camera Voltage (V) and Power Consumption (W), if camera 4W, so ur Splitter must output at least 4W, or 0.33A.. (4W/12V = 0.33A)

IVMS is HIKVISION App, EZVIZ is P2P Cloud by HIKVISION and IVMS also support EZVIZ, using that, u no need DDNS and Port Forwarding. Suitable for those who use mobile broadband which don't hv public IP. Downside is, a bit slow compare to Public IP DDNS, and app/web playback no fast forward.

Anyone can help with my hikvision NVR which i recently change to maxis and is not working with IVMS.
Already asked maxis to open up public IP but still not working.
Internal Wifi can view remotely but once change to mobile data it will not work on remote viewing via IVMS
*
1. Make sure u get Public IP. Call Maxis to get that, FOC.
2. Configure the DDNS in your router, or use HIK HiDDNS, setup in DVR.
3. Port Forwarding - go to 192.168.1.254 > Toolbox > Game and Application Sharing > Create New Game or Application > Assign Game or Application to Device

Hello guy...need some advise from sifu here...
1) should i be worry about lighthing strike or power surge for analog HD outdoor cctv system?

2) is it wise to opt for PTZ camera to cover 180' viewing angle on rotational basis or better get 2 bullet cam which could cover those angle permanently?
*
Ans1: If the camera is not mounted higher than your building, very less percentage it will strike by lightning. Make sure u use weatherproof at least Ip66 Camera, even the camera is not directly exposed to weather, For example, in car porch. For power surge, you may use Power Surge Socket to protect the DVR and Camera Power Supply.
Ans2: I believe 2 Fixed Cameras is cheaper than an Outdoor PTZ, nowadays FullHD Fixed Camera can cover area of 80 degree, so 2 Cameras sure can covered all areas.

Try look for Fisheye IPCam, 360degree, mount on ceiling, in the middle of the area.

i unable to decide using xiaomi wireless or hkvision system dvr.
priority is house safety. what is pro and con. Thanks bro
*
If u jz need one or two indoor camera, mainly for monitoring, go for wireless ipcam like xiaomi cam.
CCTV mainly for monitoring. Alarm is for security.
When alarm trigger, it call u then u remote access to ur CCTV to verify situation of ur house.
If u need outdoor camera, better buy cctv like HIKVISION.
U can opt for cheaper version, TurboHD by Hikvision, intead of their IP system.
