Hi guys, I'm new to this topic as just came across the 5% weekend CB on AMEX card. A few queries hope can get clarification from sifu here: 1. I'm using Petronas Maybank visa card now, if I terminate it and change to M2C, all my existing TP will be transferred/remained or will be cancelled as well? 2. Spending on weekends entitled for 5% CB + TP? Or just CB? 3. My annual income just lack of few hundreds to meet 60k, but if include bonus it can exceed the min. requirement for Platinum M2C. Do u think I can successfully get approved for the Platinum M2C? Thanks all

CB is awarded for weekend swipes. TP is awarded for other days too. 3. Meeting min salary requirement doesn't secure you the approval. They have other factors to take into consideration for approval.

To add on what David has just posted, I think I saw it few days ago that someone posted Maybank only considers basic salary + fixed allowances as annual income.

QUOTE(starry-starry @ Apr 8 2017, 08:52 PM) The additional charge on top of purchase for using credit card overseas is the same for ALL credit cards from different bank? I never used credit card overseas, is it worth paying with credit card? Won't it be more costly compared to paying in cash? Or somehow can offset with the points?! Hello, not sure what are the charges for other banks. Please do inquire about the info from other threads as this is Maybank thread. I only bring it for emergency. In case I bring not enough cash or theft etc, at least I still can withdraw money from my credit card or use it. This post has been edited by chubbyqq: Apr 9 2017, 07:23 PM

The extra charge is not transparent. When you swipe in foreign currency, it'll incur certain forex rate + admin fee (by the bank). The forex rate is governed by Visa International/Mastercard International/AMEX International. Merchant usually won't charge extra.

However, I noticed that CIMB's rate was rather decent even after the extra charge as it's almost as close to the exchange rate as possible.

I see, that's what I wonder too - usually bring along CC in case short of cash but never used it before as I know usually the exchange rate is higher but somehow wonder with 5x points does it somehow make it worth better since I have no idea how to make comparison between both...

Yes. for my case it's like 20 cents more compared to the amount I changed at the money changer in Malaysia. But if MYR further declines, the exchange rate is negligible liao

Is conversion 400TP = RM1 , the correct calculation to use ? read catalogue hereusually just redeem vouchers, more flexibility. walk-in redemption is better. online redemption has additional points to cover delivery fee.
