if you're in the transit area at the airport, is it safe?

I'll have a transit in HK next month.

if just transit shouldn't be any issue.... as you not going out of the immigration.... those activities are outside, and you are inside...

Still a risk that your connecting flight may be cancelled

Wondering if anyone has been to HK in recent weeks. Are shops and retail outlets giving good sales due to the protests. As I have observed that hotel prices have fallen somewhat.

Been seeing videos of HK being very messy - damaging of public properties, assaulting others etc. Not sure if this happens during protest only or it could be random attacks.

Either way, guess it's best to refrain from visiting HK for now, no matter how cheap flights/ accommodation goes? hmm.gif

Maybe alternatively sacwoc can share more details of the status there. Whether all these were magnified by media/ digital.

Normally protest happens during the weekend or Friday night. Weekdays are pretty peaceful. You can find a schedule of where the protest is and try to avoid it. Recently its getting a bit more violent with the both sides (pro dem and pro establishment) fighting against each other instead of police. Protestors are basically targetting police stations and MTR. Not sure if there are any sales or not as I basically only do grocery shopping where prices are a little bit more expensive now, I guess due to weather/season. Went to SSP recently to look at IT stuff and its pack with people and not much discount though. Heard that hotels and flights are getting cheap now.

It's true. Best time in terms of money, in compromise of some risk. Risk of having your flight cancelled and whatnot. One of my colleague is a Hongkie, and even then her sister (in HK) asked her not to return for now, just in case.

the key points is the extradition~

basically the hate seeds hv been planted few years ago in those teenager minds. at the umbrella movements.

now those teenagers hv grown up to become young adults... the so called hate seeds, now hv bear the fruits...

as to why those young adult turned violence, is actually very simple.
what happen when spoiled kids cannot get what they want?
... u get the idea rite?

as for why the adults support them... they r just ignorances parents.
they r happy when the child can do something they think useful.
and treat them like Kam Po Loh... 😅

now what wil happen in the futures?
one of these young adult will grown-up to be come future leader.
at that time, Hong Kong will really dooms.
and the history book will said the z-gens champion the murderer case against Taiwanese. 😰

Basically this is not the thread to discuss about the protest in depth. Proceed to /Kopitiam if you wish to discuss the topic.

Thanks lucaswjk for your sharing.

Let's not derail from the main topic.

There's a schedule/ notice where the protests will take place, usually over the weekend. You can check it in advance. Just avoid those area or stay indoor.

Here, this could be helpful:

nowadays goto Macau no need ferry aldy.
just take the bus... faster n cheaper.

the bus depart from Prince Edward, very near... mongkok
but u HV to take notes, the bus ticket u better buy a day earlier.
least time I took, the tix almost sapu all by prc.

but again, u can take risk...
prc arrival hv been dropped 30% since the protest

Thanks and appreciate for the tips , I'm actually planning to purchase Ferry Ticket there through Klook haha.
I'll be staying in MongKok area so taking bus from Price Edward will be not much issue, just that not sure their public transport will still on operation or not sweat.gif
