QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Jul 21 2017, 06:04 PM) Meaning you've settled in HKG now? Wahhhh. The period I'm travelling (around 3rd week of Sept) - will it be very hot? I know its summer with some chance of rain. Just want to be mentally prepared its not so hot that I'll melt under the sun hahahaha I am not too sure as I am not here long. But I think it will be hot but not as hot as Japan though. And it has been raining quite often and in fact there was a typhoon yesterday as well

QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Aug 28 2017, 09:23 AM) There was a typhoon and alot of the operations such as transport were suspended. Can't possibly drive a taxi/ bus through that crazy disaster. Right now flu is the least of the concern. http://www.thestar.com.my/news/regional/20...phoon-recovery/ http://www.hko.gov.hk/wxinfo/dailywx/wxwarntoday.htm http://www.hko.gov.hk/wxinfo/currwx/tc_gis_e.htmThere was another typhoon with cat 8 yesterday. First time in dont know how many years two big typhoon hit HK. Things not that bad in HK as most tourist spot are back to normal, though there are clean up of falling branches that are still ongoing. Most places impacted are residential place that are near coastal area rather than tourist spot.

QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Aug 29 2017, 11:34 AM) Aiyoyo that's dangerous. I'd rather stay in and enjoy a cup of coffee, or catch some TVB drama hahahaha. Which part of HKG do you stay? So Tim Ho Wan will be open ya?! And Tai Cheong egg tart also tak tutup kan. Can't wait to try That's really... fast. Talk about efficiency. I am staying in Kowloon and the shop is just next door. Just a short walk across the street. In HKG nearly every estate have their own small shopping community which tourist seldom goes to.

QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Aug 29 2017, 12:16 PM) Sounds good. Any recommendation for makan/ attraction that's say, a little less touristy but nice to visit? You can try a restaurant call Paradise Dynasty. I like their Sioa Long Pao. They have a branch in Tokyo as well which I think its very nice. However some of my colleague says its so-so only. So really depends on person I guess. If not mistaken its a Singapore company. Besides that cannot really recommend as I am not a foodie and I mostly eat salad.

QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Aug 29 2017, 02:44 PM) Nice, thanks! Sa- salad. Why so healthy #areyouhooman #howdidyoulive Hope all is up and well! Share your experience and recommendation (if any) when you're back! At my age, you have to eat to stay healthy. I still need to get use to the amount of oily but delicious food here!

QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Aug 29 2017, 04:01 PM) But only salad may lack nutrients that you can derive from other food not saying its bad, but best to have a good mix of vege, meat, fruits, legumes etc in your diet intake. Dont mean that I ONLY eat salad. Just that it is basically my main staple. I still love meat especially "siew yuk" which I miss a lot while in Tokyo but just have to not over eat.

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Dec 6 2017, 09:35 AM) Tung Chung to City Area such as Mongkok, Tsim Sha Tsui, HK Island by MRT need 1 hour journey. Actually not that bad lah, except for HK Island. In Tung Chung (TC) you only have TC line. If you want to go MOngkok and dont mind walking about 10-15mins, take the TC line and stop at Olympic. To TST, just change at Lai King and it takes about 45 mins. If you plan to go Island, just stop at HK and take bus/tram or other lines.

QUOTE(Jay Chua CC @ Dec 7 2017, 03:03 AM) Can save up on cost as my relative's condo is at TC. She is stewardess and constantly flying all around so have few units around the region. First time going to HK. 4 days trip. Any idea how much budget per person approx for 3 adults? Howe much is the train to the city from TC? YOu can download the MTR Mobile as well to plan your trip. It can cost you somewhere between 9 -15HKD. If you cross over the island its definitely much more expensive. Once you get a cross, the trams are cheap - HKD2 per ride

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Dec 30 2017, 12:27 PM) I saw the prices on Agoda etc exceptionally high for periods during CNY. Almost double. I was wondering if it is the same strategy applied by many hotels where if they cant sell the rooms, later on they will revert back to the normal price again. Or I could be wrong where hotel rooms are crazily expensive during CNY. Normally it will be very expensive during CNY as a lot of Chinese tourist coming to HK. On the other side a lot of Hongkies will take this chance to travel abroad. Not only HK, but in anywhere around the world, if its peak period, the earlier you book the better. The same as well for air ticket. Of course there is a very very small chance you might get a room, but i very much doubt so.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Jan 23 2018, 05:33 PM) Hi.... Are you very sure that uber will be cheaper than taxis? Some reviews I have came across did mention that uber is not cheaper than taxis in Hong Kong. I do agree that you get better cars like the Tesla and you dont need to deal with rude taxi drivers. Im planning to take uber from the airport to my hotel as there would be four of us. Any input would appreciated. Thats what my colleague told me but I cannot really verify as I havent taken UBER before even though I have been here for a year. As for your hotel, where is it located? Sometimes its cheaper to take the Airport Express to Kowloon and then take the free shuttle bus to your hotel. You can get cheaper ticket in Klook as well.
