i say this is the best time to go HK.cheap flight,hotels & less mainland tourist. I just back from Hk few days ago.Everything seems normal except sunday protest at causeway bay where i avoid that place during that time.

SInce the anti mask law came to effect, protest have turn much more violent. Protest can flare up anytime and not only during the weekend/holiday. Flahspoint do happen in Mongkok and Prince Edward especially at night. I cannot see ohw or when it will end. If protest do start, you might have problem going back to your hotel, as roads will be blocked and MTR closed.

So far those remote places like sai kung, repulse bay, gold coast are not really affected. What is common with this places are they are not really accessible via MTR. As long as there is MTR, there is changes that it will be targetted. Even airport is not immune.

LKF is financial centre?? First time I heard people describe it that way.

HK seems to have turned really violent. Not sure how are the locals hanging in there, with businesses being affected. Heard that there's a 30% drop in China tourists, and that Hotel accommodation these days are even cheaper than a local's monthly installment.

Actually no idea when or how it will end. Now at least you see less tourist around the street dragging their suitcase. TST is really very quiet. I am actually not really impacted. As long you stay away form the protest then you should be fine. Not only hotel, even apartments now are much cheaper. BUt then not sure I will invest in one now.
LKF is something like our bukit bintang at night. Financial center... well maybe there are some exchange of cash, but I wont call it a financial center.

SSP and Mongkok is normally where the protest is at night and it will start randomly. In fact mongkok station is still close until now. Generally it is still safe and when you see some protest starting just move away. Unless you want to have a taste of tear gas. Please dont wear any black clothes as well since this are what the protestors are wearing. Hope to hear some exciting stories from you when you are back!
