This is the most reliable source that i can find. It states that you cannot open the package until you leave Japan.

As I mention by right (law) you are not suppose to open it. Its even stated on the bag. As mention by @Raptor almost most of the time they don't check your luggage unless your luck really ran out. smile.gif.

Bags can. Only consumable products & make-ups will be sealed.

for my trip in June, after visiting Lake Mashu area, I am torn between going towards Lake Akan or Kushiro. anyone can advise me which one better to go?

Lake Akan
Onsen resort, Ainu Souvenir Street and Museum and Fire Festival performance at night. But I feel a bit too touristy.

Kushiro
Visit Kushiro Wetlands on the way, have Robatayaki at night. next morning visit Washo market for Katte Don. Accommodation are cheaper than Lake Akan onsen resort.

any idea?
*
I vote Lake Akan tongue.gif

Cheapest way is to go to those shops that buys and sells ticket around Tokyo. Depends very much if there is anyone selling it to the shop. Most probably you will get 100-200yen discount.

Both, especially Ikebukuro have quite good transportation, so I guess its fine. Anyway, still depends where and what you want to do in Tokyo.

9. Traveling with Internet!
- Travel Sim https://t.iijmio.jp/en/index.html *can be purchased from JTB Malaysia before your trip*
- Pocket WIFI from various companies. Google search around or check the threads for good deals.

The travel sim is quite good. Otherwise just get pocket wifi from local sources in Malaysia, these days not that expensive also.

sorry boss. didnt notice the first post. i guess i'll getting a portable wifi, seems to be a more economical choice since since it's around RM20/day which would only cost me rm240 for the whole trip with unlimited data.

Yo guys. I will be travelling to Osaka/Hokkaido from 6th Dec to 16th Dec this year (Tickets bought - ANA). The following is my planned itinerary, would love to get some input from fellow experts here.

6th to 7th - Osaka (Mainly city, USJ)
8th to 10th - Arrival at New Chitose, depart for Niseko. Beginner 1st timer ski class at Hirafu. Accomodation at Hirafu.
10th to 12th - Hakodate
12th to 13th - Noboribetsu Onsen Hotel
13th to 16th - Mainly Sapporo, Otaru on 14th. Accomodation at Sapporo.

Theres a few things i would like fellow sifus opinion.

1. Any cost effective ways to travel from Niseko-Hakodate and Hakodate-Noboribetsu? As one way JR would cost approx 7000JPY. I was told thats the best way to travel as there will be no coach buses during winter for those routes? I have looked out at chuo bus website but so far no such route yet. Will driving be an option in winter? Eg. Rent a car from Niseko, drive down to Hakodate and return at Hakodate?

2. If at all we were to plan for a visit to a zoo with penguin parade, will Maruyama zoo be better? Or more worth it to travel to Arashiyama zoo?

3. Any suggestions for cost effective travel/transportation passes to recommend in the areas i am travelling to?

4. I know this is a very noob question but can we wear sportshoes in winter? Or must it be a boot?

Thanks and regards!
