Quick question....I'm getting the All Nikko Pass (4days). Does this pass includes ride on buses from Nikko Station to Lake Chuzenji? And how should I put the sequence...go to Kegon falls first or Lake Chuzenji? This two places is near to each other and walkable right?
*
Ur 4 day pass include bus ride as well
All need as ur tour guide > http://www.tobu-bus.com/en/nikko/
Start from top yumoto onsen and down back to nikko station
In between u can decide want to walk then entire senjogahara
Or scening walk from akanuma to ryuzu fall which u can side trip senjogahara
N if you have time go kirifuri kogen about less than 20min bus ride from nikko station
But with the current snow not sure what is interesting there
GOOD LUCK and bring back SNOWMAN biggrin.gif

I have question about the Nikko All area pass. Have anyone used it before? Usually how does it work? After purchasing the pass in their assigned outlets, do i still have to buy a train ticket? Or do i have to exchange it for a separate train ticket when i buy the pass in the same office?

These kinds of information is not very clear and i can't find any details in their official site.
*
u can buy the pass at Asakusa Station, they will gv a pass indicating a starting and end date of your pass.
just show the pass to the ticket counter every time you want to go in or out of the station.

so u don't hv to buy another train ticket or exchange for a separate ticket.

Thanks for the reply  smile.gif

So i can use that pass on the stated date on any departure time i decide on the spot?
*
yup...normally the staff will ask u when u want to start use the pass.
the staff will write on the pass from X date to X date and explain to u where is this pass applicable.
n yes all of them can speak english, so don't worry smile.gif

Guys, going to Japan for 14 days, following a friend. I left it to him to plan everything. So it's 4 days Tokyo, 2 Hakone, 4 Kyoto, 1 Nara and 3 Osaka.

Question is, friend advised to buy 7 day JR Pass which I think is quite exorbitant considering that it will be mostly used to travel between these locations. In town travel using metro and busses will not be covered by JR Pass if I'm not mistaken. Is the JR Pass then worth to buy or I can save from buying at the ticketing counters itself?
*
It is advisable to focus on just tokyo (Kanto Region) or Osaka (Kansai Region).
N your right the 7 JR Pass is expensive, i better to re-adjust our itinerary.

Maybe u can try the following

Option 1:
> Tokyo
> Hakone
> Yokohama
> Nikko
> Gunma (Optional)

Option 2:
> Osaka
> Kyoto
> Nara
> Kobe

Thanks guys, I thought of that too. The above is my friend's itinerary as he has been to Japan before. For me, it is my first time there, that's why I left all the planning to him.

I did a quick check using Hypedia on the train tickets. Even if we were to cover all these places, it would take up only about 10k+ yen or RM 400+. Bloody 7 day pass already RM 1100+. Of course this is only from city to city. I haven't included all the inter city transportation to those tourists destinations etc.

I have no idea what my friend has planned but knowing him since high school, it will mostly be museums, castles, parks etc. For me, I prefer city stuff like Akihabara, drinking and getting to know the locals at izakayas at Memory Lane and Golden Gai, or maybe go for some dirty shows at Kabukicho.

Yes I know all of the above although I've never been to Japan. Got do research one. Haha
*
good luck bro...im sure it will not be ur last visit to japan brows.gif

Do they now check the hand carry luggage weight at the boarding hall (right before boarding the plane) when you fly airasia?
I just heard some from someone, planning to fly to tokyo soon.
*
Not sure, but ever since AA had imposed strict rules on hand curry luggage i think u don't want to risk ur holiday with unnecessary trouble.

I was also told that some of these minshuku will not accept solo traveller - which is one of my major concern here when it comes to booking a place to stay in Shirakawa-Go.
Confirmed, they do not cater for solo traveller (happened to me).
N thanks sweet_pez for the explanation.

seems like sakura full bloom is during 1st week of april this year ...would next year be around the same time ?
*
can't be certain about this, the best reference is current forecast and previous yr bloom date.
i went to shirakawa-go in Jan 2016 n snow was few cm but the yr before a friend went there same month and the snow was already few feet.
