Agree, just be honest to them, ask them straight can we keep the accessories since we were told by Samsung that we're allowed. If more desperate just say you lost everything.

I could attest to that. But do remember that smart switch is only compatible with new generation of Samsung phones. Some older phones are not supported.

Haven't used smart switch before. So in theory it should help backup all apps, settings, accounts and any customize done with your current phone into new phone?

No exactly as come apps need to be reactivated. Unauthorised apps will not be restored.

To be safe, you should do the followings besides using smart switch:
1. copy out the important folders/files separately (eg pics. books, music, apk, etc)
2. use sms backupp and restore and copy out the backup folder
3. copy out the whatsapp folder

after restoring from smart switch, you will still have files to fall back on in case some were not restored properly.

I don't know about other dealer but in gurney paragon penang, where i bought my N7, they allow to transfer your old N7 to new N7 on the spot when we go for exchange. However, it is depend on the queue whether they have enough personnel or not. So 1 of the guy suggest me if i want to direct transfer he ask me to come other day after 29/9.

Update on the above matter.. I went on live chat with samsung and asked nicely if I could keep the accs and return only the phone and box. He said yes sure.. I then asked why YES wanted to take accs from the new box and replace if I lost any accs.. He said that shouldn't be the case and said he will escalate this case and inform YES about this.. so i said thanks and end the live chat.. after a while, samsung called me to inform that they have informed YES and I can return the phone and box only without the accs. So yes if you asked nicely, you get to keep the accs. ✌

get a thumbdrive, use the included usb type-c to usb A adapter, smart switch backup to the thumbdrive.

when collect new phone, restore from the same thumbdrive.

of course, if you are worried, backup whatsapp, pictures, videos, music and books separately.

The Samsung store in Nu Sentral say no stock on 29th so exchange only second week of October.

just get call from Samsung Pavilion... i made appointment with them to exchange Friday night, lesser people, and they can help me transfer data to new phone too.

Ask them about compensation, they said screen crack protection and screen protector.

About the accessories, they said bring along with it because Samsung planned to give the old accessories to us as compensation too... wonder how true is this lol.
