Hi guys.

1. Can 1.5 Turbo maintaining their speed 140-190km/hr for a long period like 2 hours at highway?
Cz I read the comments in facebook said any turbo car cannot maintain their speed in long period of time. They said its waste to have a turbo. So they suggest buy 1.8 or NA engine for reliability.

I need to confirm this from you guys as owner of 1.5 turbo because I want to make civic as my daily car. Sometimes I need to use car for travel using LPT2 from Jerteh to Dungun.

2. How about the cost for maintenance of 1.5 turbo? How many MYR they cost in average?

I'm in dilemma in choosing ether 1.8 or 1.5.

Give your opinion guys and sifu..

1. I dont think it should be a problem - l am sure the Japanese engineers have tested it for longer before putting this into the market..

2. I dont think itll be significantly more - l mean more yes but like 2/3 times more, no..

But then again, l haven't gone for my 1st service yet - better wait for more longer owners..

Shouldn't be any problems bro maintaining that speed at the highway, although your fuel consumption will take a beating.

Cost of maintaining both cars are quite similar - take a look at the first page of this thread - civic specs. It's also stated on Honda's website.

Basically if you want speed and power, get the 1.5T.

1. If a Turbo car cant maintain 140-190km/h for 2 hours on highway, then you will see a lot of overheat MB,BMW,Audi,Porsche,Ferarri,Bently,Peugeot, volvo etc breakdown on highway tongue.gif . Most luxury cars are using turbo engine now and even the japanese manufacturers are starting to use turbo like Honda, Nissan, Lexus etc. Only joker will say is a waste to have a turbo coz still living in cave.... brows.gif

Definitely agree with bro berann. Hv done non stop nse kl - penang btwn 110 - 150 couple of times alrdy. so far the handling of this tcp car is top notch. nvh is very good. fc avg 16.4km/l per trip.

just one tip on safety feature: if your gear is on set at D and you unbuckle your seat belt, the car will activate P (electronic hand brake) even if you use or don't use Brake hold.

As a owner of the 1.5 TC, the fuel consumption is very good. If you drive moderately you can easily get 17Km/L.
In my opinion the 1.5TC is more fuel efficient compared to the 1.8.

Overall I'm very happy with the car.

I'm actually not too sure on this one. Never did a side by side test with a 1.8 - since driving conditions are different between drivers (driving style, route etc).

However, the 1.5TC is MUCH MUCH MORE efficient than my previous Civic FD2 2.0 (2011). I could only get at best 13km/l on highways and 8km/l on city drive. With the 1.5TC, on average now I could get 14km/l combined, 19.6km/l on highway and the worst in city drive is 12km/l.

Click on my Fuelly Signature link to see more on this - don't count the first 2 fuel up as normally the first few fuel up will get bad FC.

Thanks a lot bro. Maintaining speed and fuel consumption is good is one of my favorite.

Ok bro..i will check that on 1st page. Cost of maintenance is quite similar, then go to 1.5 turbo..this will be my first turbo car.

I think 1.5 turbo will be my choice. Luna Silver or Modern Steel maybe..

Yes bro. Agreed with you.
What's come in my mind is how can luxury car has turbo but still maintaining the speed. When it comes to civic, they said it's waste. Still they didn't owned civic but complain everything.

Thanks bro.

First 'service' is 1k km, but more of a checking than service. Real 1st service is when the car hits 6 months or 10,000 km, whichever is first. However. with the turbo, we may need to go for an oil service earlier, depending on the car condition, which is then dependent on how the car has been driven (hard, leisurely etc). You will know more by reading the informative posts at the start, particularly on the maintenance minder.

On a side note, I have been driving all these while with ECO mode on. But just now I turned it off just to try, and whoa, you can feel the noticeable increase in throttle response. Methinks no more eco mode from now on, unless its highway cruising.

As mentioned in previous post, feeling is very subjective for different person. I feel comfort doesn't mean you feel comfort if you compare with those luxury car like Benz or BMW 5 series or 7 series. Am I right?
