Hi guys.

1. Can 1.5 Turbo maintaining their speed 140-190km/hr for a long period like 2 hours at highway?
Cz I read the comments in facebook said any turbo car cannot maintain their speed in long period of time. They said its waste to have a turbo. So they suggest buy 1.8 or NA engine for reliability.

I need to confirm this from you guys as owner of 1.5 turbo because I want to make civic as my daily car. Sometimes I need to use car for travel using LPT2 from Jerteh to Dungun.

2. How about the cost for maintenance of 1.5 turbo? How many MYR they cost in average?

I'm in dilemma in choosing ether 1.8 or 1.5.

Give your opinion guys and sifu..

1. I dont think it should be a problem - l am sure the Japanese engineers have tested it for longer before putting this into the market..

2. I dont think itll be significantly more - l mean more yes but like 2/3 times more, no..

But then again, l haven't gone for my 1st service yet - better wait for more longer owners..

Thanks bro. That's what's convince me. Owner telling the truth.

I will waiting the owner who already made 1st service.

Shouldn't be any problems bro maintaining that speed at the highway, although your fuel consumption will take a beating.

Cost of maintaining both cars are quite similar - take a look at the first page of this thread - civic specs. It's also stated on Honda's website.

Basically if you want speed and power, get the 1.5T.
*
Thanks a lot bro. Maintaining speed and fuel consumption is good is one of my favorite.

Ok bro..i will check that on 1st page. Cost of maintenance is quite similar, then go to 1.5 turbo..this will be my first turbo car.

I think 1.5 turbo will be my choice. Luna Silver or Modern Steel maybe..

I didn't know the mileage requires service. Maybe 5000km.

1. If a Turbo car cant maintain 140-190km/h for 2 hours on highway, then you will see a lot of overheat MB,BMW,Audi,Porsche,Ferarri,Bently,Peugeot, volvo etc breakdown on highway tongue.gif . Most luxury cars are using turbo engine now and even the japanese manufacturers are starting to use turbo like Honda, Nissan, Lexus etc. Only joker will say is a waste to have a turbo coz still living in cave.... brows.gif
*
Yes bro. Agreed with you.
What's come in my mind is how can luxury car has turbo but still maintaining the speed. When it comes to civic, they said it's waste. Still they didn't owned civic but complain everything.

Thanks bro.

Definitely agree with bro berann. Hv done non stop nse kl - penang btwn 110 - 150 couple of times alrdy. so far the handling of this tcp car is top notch. nvh is very good. fc avg 16.4km/l per trip.

just one tip on safety feature: if your gear is on set at D and you unbuckle your seat belt, the car will activate P (electronic hand brake) even if you use or don't use Brake hold.
*
Nice review bro. Definitely what I want to hear. It's convinced me more and more..haha

Thanks for the tips.

Guys, how about the leather seats for long journey. Is it more comfortable than fabric? I mean takde lenguh-lenguh kan..hahaha

First 'service' is 1k km, but more of a checking than service. Real 1st service is when the car hits 6 months or 10,000 km, whichever is first. However. with the turbo, we may need to go for an oil service earlier, depending on the car condition, which is then dependent on how the car has been driven (hard, leisurely etc). You will know more by reading the informative posts at the start, particularly on the maintenance minder.

On a side note, I have been driving all these while with ECO mode on. But just now I turned it off just to try, and whoa, you can feel the noticeable increase in throttle response. Methinks no more eco mode from now on, unless its highway cruising.
*
Thanks bro for your explanation. It's depends on how we drive as you said. More hard then it will be soon for service. I just watched the maintenance minder. Thanks bro for enlightening that.

I see. It's really fun to drive with quick response of engine. Smooth and speed.

By the way, ECO mode on reduce aircon right? Or anything else to save the fuel?

As mentioned in previous post, feeling is very subjective for different person. I feel comfort doesn't mean you feel comfort if you compare with those luxury car like Benz or BMW 5 series or 7 series. Am I right?
*
Yeah bro. Luxury cars make us more comfortable but this new civic makes me feel driving in luxury car.

I have test drive 1.5TCP. It's really kick in seconds when I overtake other car. Really impressive.

Leather seat is comfortable for me. Just read some owner review on fabric in 1.8 is ok but not so good. I don't know what he meant as you said, it's depends on person how they feel.

1. turbo car cant maintain top speed >2 hours is definitely bullshit.. almost all luxury cars are using turbo engine.. those who say tat, i doubt their level of knowledge in a car.. for reliability, no doubt 1.8 is very reliable, and its proven over the years..  for 1.5, nobody, and i really mean nobody, can tell u how reliable is it, as it is still new.. only time will tell.. for this reason alone, i choose 1.8 over turbo, as i dun like the hassle of sending my car to SC every time just in case shit happens..

2. turbo car definitely cost more in maintenance.. have a look at the honda webpage.. and turbo engine need more TLC in a long run, and more parts need to change more frequent compare to NA engine, eg spark plugs and etc..

1.5 - if u wan power, speed, satisfication in driving, new tech
1.8 - if u wan ur car to be reliable, hassle free (in case have issue on turbo) and have piece of mind..
*
Good for you bro. Like you and others said, it's nonsense turbo cannot maintain their speed in long distance and period. The owner have experienced this and they proof the turbo can handle it.

Stick with 1.8 is a better choice if we don't want any problems regarding the turbo. But with 5 years warranty, turbo user do not have to worry. For me its depends on individual. Most important thing I want this civic..haha

Yes bro. Just looked at the website for the maintenance. Need to care more on turbo. Like someone said, the beast needs full of love full of cares.

By the way bro, please review the seats of yours with pictures also the handling of 1.8 in terms of overtake.

Just pumped my 1st tank - rm50 or 29l @ 400km. That translate to 13.5km/l town driving but it's been a quiet week, less jam.

Will see how does it compare after 1k inspection.

Btw, car is 1.8.

Initially i also considering 1.5 TC as just different by RM10k only with leather seat, 17" sport rim and 1.5 turbo engine. Not to mention the cheaper road tax.

But all i need is a reliable car with appropriate power, i learnt that those turbo car as per some members highlighted in V1 or V2 thread, turbo engine will drop in performance after 6 years or may need overhaul and require more frequent oil engine service (about 7k km).

Secondly the resell value likely will worst than 1.8cc as per current second hand market for turbo car compare to ordinary car.
The second hand market just not believe those special car like turbo or hybrid engine.

The most important is when i test drive 1.5tc, the engine is so loud and shaking. I n my wife can feel the vibration in driving cabin. This 1 really push me away. I'm wondering probably that due to show room car n everyone just tekan it to the max n spoil the engine.

I'm driving a 1.6cc car which could push to 170kmh easily. Hence, i think 1.8cc is good enough to satisfy me. Moreover, the top limit is same as 1.5tc since the machine is capped that way. What's the point of getting higher power if u cap it?

I test drive 1.5TCP White Orchid Pearl at Ban Chu Bee Kota Bharu. I felt in love with turbo.

1. Can easily overtake others.

2. Very stable during corner or roundabout.

3. No need to hard-press to accelerate in seconds.

4. Very comfortable. My wife said that because she sit at the back.

5. I have no comment on durability or reliability. Never owned turbo car. Maybe this time I will have it, 1.5TCP.

I will keep update when I have it.

Hi guys.

Just discussed with SA for 1.5TCP. He told me, rebate is RM1500 with free tinted 5 years warranty.

If installed Security Film, rebate is RM1000.

Warranty also 5 years. More secure and not easy to broke.

So, anyone have installed this Security Film at Honda?
Is it good?
