QUOTE(Mini Nici @ Sep 10 2016, 09:19 PM) IMHO, Samsung really handles the recall well for simple case. For more complex situation like mine they screw up big time. I actually travel overseas for long term project. Samsung called me for recall and I informed them my situation. They said they could escalate to the Samsung here and I could return here which I'm really impressed. But they wanted me to carry in the full box set. Instantly my mood was down to the drain. Who will travel with box set around the world. At the end still need to fly 8 hrs including transit time back to KL. This is my first Samsung and last I guess. Try to appeal.... else, who has the full package, ask to courier to you lorrr... FEDEX cannot... use Pos Malaysia/International loh.... LOL...

QUOTE(mfa682 @ Sep 10 2016, 09:25 PM) Yeah. that was last year's September article. Did Sony pull back water resistant certification? Correct me if I'm wrong, as far as I concern, the recent announced Xperia XZ still have IP68 cert. What did I miss? Read and understand the small "text"/asterisks before buying any products/services Sony Water and dust "proof" policyThis post has been edited by azhar75: Sep 10 2016, 10:16 PM

Gotta be honest, Note7 still the best phone I have ever used. But I do feel like giving up sometimes.
I once bought Xperia Z1, lasted only 2 weeks. Dont like the interface.
Iphone 6+ lasted for only 30mins, handed it to my wife.
I'm a big fans of the spen, really. I also wonder whether the replacement unit is only for the sake of replacement or they do really replace the battery unit. Since they never mention what they are up to.

Once all these recall/banns/official replacement news settled, the flight crews will take your phone, turn it off and return it back to you before leaving the aircraft.... chaotic situation during returning the device back to you...expect this to happen.... Having said that, next Note8 design will be a drastic change compared to Note7 in terms of materials/colour/appearance....This post has been edited by azhar75: Sep 11 2016, 09:43 AM

The water concern is because nowadays phones are with lots of "holes" exposed to water if it is submerged. Take N7 for instance, its USB-C, the headphone Jack, speaker, physical home button, all these are exposed to water hazard.
Why Sony change the terms for their water proofing policy during their Xperia Z3 is that they had change the way these ports are protected from a fully enclosed type of sealing to what everyone is now practiced - by o rings that is still exposed to water when it come to contact.
Take a look at Xperia Z that I am using right now as spare phone, it is completed covered with flaps for the usb ports, headphone jack. yes there are still orings but they are secure inside the flaps once you close it, not exposed like what the newer generation of phones are. I am sure there are pros and cons of each other as the xperia Z I had already changed the micro usb flap for 3 times due to wear and tear (had to open the flap to plug the charging cable, and close it later) and the o ring gets worn and torn after some time. But till now I still have very good confident on the design that it is no problem to stay underwater as advertised (bearing in mind that the phone is already 3years+). For the newer generation of phones like N7, Xperia Z5, or even the IP7 it just doesn't give me the confident that it will still be doing good after a few years.

For current status, u can bring ur phone onboard but u need to switch it off during the whole journey and u cant charging during the journey also. I dont know how long this rule will enforce for galaxy note 7 user. I dont think the crew member will take your phone during the flight unless u used or charging phone disregard the rule. QUOTE(teckyang97 @ Sep 10 2016, 07:29 PM) People have completely forgotten about Xperia ZL, where's its both removable and water resistant. I don't know how the idea "if its removable battery, then its not water resistant" exists. You meant Xperia ZR. Yes it is using the same old type of water sealing.

Nvm, not that I care much about Sony anyway. I've had enough with their phones/tablets, great hardware, the opposite goes with the software.

I only read some articles saying it isnt allowed to enter the flight. Hence, I dont know anyone who gonna need to use the phone in a flight anyway. Not much you can do offline, with a phone. This however brought inconvenience having to face thesociety calling us timebomb. But again, I still need to know officially what they are doing to the replacement units.

Don't ever try that. If it is detained in the custom here, good luck as the clearance could take time due to no packing list, proforma invoice and how custom clearance can be done. Paying tax and clear it out may take months. I just wonder if recall and replace why do you bother box set. Taiwan doesn't need that anyway. Your service drag your feet. I will pay for my flight back, collect the phone and return to IOS. Anyway I have bought the new "fruit" phone pending delivery at 16 Sep which is more reliable.

When I firstbought Z1, I'm so eager to have it in the water but I didn't hence the flaps. My Note7 is only 2 weeks old, I already made video underwater! Lol.

Despite having quite a decent hardware in its time, the interface lags badly. But I really love it's build, lightweight and waterproof or resistant whatever makes it a lot easier to clean the display with tap water.
