hi guys, suppose i have an FD matured and it was set for auto-renew, how does the interest rate work? stick to the previous rate as it's auto renew or it will be revise to a new rate?

Once you've opt'ed for auto-renewal, and let's say if you're on a promo rate or a negotiated rate, once it has matured, it will go back to the current prevailing board rate. Unless you've informed them or negotiated with a new promotional rate. smile.gif

For auto renewal, the curent board rates will apply. To get promo rates, usually banks will require fresh funds or at least a top on the fd.

Yes. HLB 4.15% for 6 mth is extended till 31 Dec 2016. Received sms from Ocbc all FD mature in Dec will be auto renewed to 3.95% per year. No need fresh fund and better than the early 3.95% for 13 months.

Their rates are displayed at the bank or you need to call up to ask. I usually just let it run for one day and see how much the interest given is.

Received same sms too from OCBC. I wonder if that means the interest rate is going up next year? Else why would they offer competitive rates automatically?
