I have FDs maturing in Oct but I feel like withdrawing now in Sept and put it into RHB and lock it at 4% for another 12 mths. Does it make sense to do this?

Update:

1. HLB 4% need 2 extra product to be eligible, so it's not pure FD.

2. RHB 12m quota finished

3. end up with Maybank 4mths 3.6%, and expecting better promo in next few months..

also just realized that the FD cert printed by Maybank did not have the word "Fixed Deposit" to clearly state the type of document it prints.

Funny how our biggest bank print a receipt that doesn't state clearly what document it is. Look at your Maybank FD cert and you will be shocked. Don't ask me why it took me so long to noticed it.

Thanks for update.

Called CIMB RM to enquire about their rates:

For conventional:
3 mth 3.85%
12 mth 3.7%

For Islamic:
3 mth 4%
12 mth 3.8%

So CIMB 3 mth 4% rate is good.

Anyway I am looking for 12 mth. So tomorrow will be taking out from CIMB. Looking for new home for the dough tomorrow.  biggrin.gif

Same here. Do advise if there is anything better. Thanks!

OCBC only offering me 3.9% for 13-mth (conventional) and 3.95% for 13-mth (islamic).

Any idea if its "safe" (ie slightly higher than FD rate is enough for me) to go for Hwang Select Bond Fund or RHB Asian Income?

Meaning principal is almost guaranteed and return is slightly more than FD, say 5%

HLB currently has a November promo for eFD at 4.15% for 6 months tenure every Tuesday (4.0% any other day), you might want to check it out.
*
I dont have a HL account. If I need to get this promo tomorrow, how long does it take to open an account at the bank and can I use the eFD function immediately? FYI, I have a CIMB bankers cheque with me which needs to be cleared as well when I open the account. Kam sia.

Yes. HLB 4.15% for 6 mth is extended till 31 Dec 2016. Received sms from Ocbc all FD mature in Dec will be auto renewed to 3.95% per year. No need fresh fund and better than the early 3.95% for 13 months.
*
Received same sms too from OCBC. I wonder if that means the interest rate is going up next year? Else why would they offer competitive rates automatically?

anyone sign up Maybank GIA 4.5% last year? my current GIA auto renew now. back to 4.1 promo rate?
*
They always auto-renew at board rate, never promo rate. Unless they inform you so. Like OCBC recently sent sms and inform that they will renew at promo rate 3.9%.
