Current ISSUE #12

Goodbye Streamyx, Hello Unifi Lite?

Streamyx
- Existing 8Mbps streamyx rebranded to Unifi Lite... affectively killed off streamyx brand.
- Those stuck on 1Mbps - 4Mbps will be on RM69 as well.
- Bill changes starts on September.

Unifi Air
- Only for certain area for now.
- Using TDD Band 40.
- 20Mbps speed cap with unlimited quota
- 2 years contract, free Huawei B618 (afaik sim locked) modem.

Current Unifi Lite 10Mbps on RM129
- Bill will change to RM 69.

From what I read on the UNIFI community forum, if you're paying more than RM69 currently for Streamyx, e.g:

RM99 for 1Mbps, you'll only be upgraded to RM69 for 1Mbps, even if the max speed supported by the infrastructure is 8Mbps.

If you want RM69 for 8Mbps, need to apply to TM to upgrade your maximum speed this month. A bit silly if you ask me. Pretty unfair for those that don't apply now.

Not sure if true or not.

would like to share my streamyx to unifi experience.

i’ve been on 8mbps for 4-5years as my house was out of coverage(kampung house) but the housing area across the road(200m) was fully equipped with the unifi DP. so i write to skmm, lodge with tm, contact area YB etc u name it over the years and no feedback. until last month.

i went to the same tm point(god knows how many times i went) and this time i was entertained by another staff and i repeat my story and effort. she checked and again confirmed that my unit is not in their list. but she’s trying to help, she google map my house and the nearest dp, it is suppose to be within coverage. but the problem is across the road. nonetheless she file for a confirmed subscription application.

3days later installer came by and sees the problem. he then report for TM pole installation( need 2 pole for my case) and request that i do my part to follow up. so i did. 2weeks later, pole installer did come and plant the pole and the next day, the same tm guys come and pull the fiber cable all the way into my house.

i guess i finally met the right person to make it work.

Guys,

For those who are using 1,2,4Mbps package better go upgrade by yourselves manually.
I just did that and they called me to verify the upgrade. So I asked them whether they will upgrade the speed next month for those packages that below 8mbps, they told me that they will only reduce the price but not upgrade the speed(even though your area the infra can support 8mbps). So better do it yourself.

Just confirmed with Unifi Live Chat, TM not provide free speed upgrade. If you want speed upgrade, you will have to do it at TM point before 31 Aug 2019.
