Hi to all Mazda owner

I'm new to this thread, and currently i am interest to purchase a new car. i'm aiming at Mazda 3 GVC high spec & Honda civic turbo. i understand that civic is better in term of rear passenger space, but this is not really bother me that much, since i drive with my partner most of the time. My preference slightly slanted toward the new mazda 3 GVC.

My biggest concern with mazda 3 gvc as i heard from many youtube reviewer is the road noise. I heard that this new facelifted mazda 3 NVH is improved? Can anyone confirm that compare to pre-facelift version.

Can anyone provide me the sound level dB at 120 km/h speed. (Pre-facelift version also TQ  tongue.gif ) and how's new honda civic sound dB at 120km/h also. Thx a lot in advance. thumbup.gif

1 last question, can i improve the NVH of mazda 3 by purchasing a comfort tire? or is there any after market sound insulation modification? will this void my warrantly by installing additional sound insulation?

Sorry for all this noob question.

some forumer said the new GVC version has a lot of improvement in term the onboard NVH but unsure how many % reduced compared to the old version of M3,due it is very subjective and you have to test drive both car and whether it is within your bearable level. icon_rolleyes.gif

The road noise depends greatly on the condition and type of the road surface so you can't put a fixed sound dB level at a certain speed. The best way is to test drive both cars over the same route to compare.

There are shops which provide aftermarket sound insulation but you have to spend a lot for small improvement. Changing to comfort tyres will be more effective.

If NVH is very important to you you should consider getting a D-segment car which is built for comfort from the ground up. The Mazda 3 is a driver's car and some level of road and engine noise contribute to the driving experience.

i'm driving the pre-facelift model, the sound insulation is bad compare to other car of the same segment, especially when raining shakehead.gif

i'm still on the stock tires, i've seen some member changed to hankook v12 but it is just slight improvement on the noise level, i guess that's the con of UHP tires, noisy but gripy

the only thing you can do to improve the noise level is add sound insulation only

NVH and road noise, this is very subjective to individual. When I say it's ok, but you might feel it is noisy. As mentioned by Ginny88, best is test drive the car at your daily route. Compare both car side by side, end to end.

The original TOYO tires, are really noisy as hell. LOL.. But as you said, most of the time only you and your partner only, wouldn't be a concern then. Personally I found the road noise is on the loud side from rear passenger section. The driver and front passenger, is less affected. Though, I still rate the noise on the high side when compare to other same segment rivals.

Bear in mind, Mazda 3 uses 18" and thus thinner tire profile. Definitely it will create more noise. And, honestly, our car NVH is real bad.. Even my bro's persona also better, but Persona is using 15" and 55 profile tires, so that might contributed to less road noise and tires already absorbs and filter it.

Yes, road noise does feel better after you change tyre. Go for test drive and feel it yourself.

is normal to have that color due to oxidation, you can even hear tickling sound from there right after you shut off the car

burning smell is normal also if you drive at high rpm for prolong period

Just to share with Mazda 3 owners something relevant I read on facebook.
Note: this is not my personal account.
----------

Last Friday I went to Bermaz meet a head of Service Manager, we tried to introduce company battery for Skyactiv with istop.
for the discussion , I had ask some question for the battery for skyactiv with istop.

Q1. Can the Mazda skyactiv with istop using non start stop battery ?
A: Can't .. Must use Start Stop Battery.

Q2. If I use a non start stop battery ,any affected happen ?
A: IF LUCKILY , the non start stop battery will be lifespan shorten, Not more than a year it will either damage or battery casing expand till leak out. IF UNLUCKILY , The Alternator will be damage , it will cost u few thousand to replace a new one. WARRANTY VOID,NO CLAIM.

Q3. Any case been found damage by using non start stop battery ?
A: Yes Only few cases happen, bermaz also found some client changed to non start stop battery, warranty been voided but not inform directly to client , until client find out by self when anything damage ,we only take action n tell.

Q4. How Bermaz will know the damage cause by using non start stop battery ?
A: Any Mazda vehicle system had a log record , anything you change before , it will had a record stored in vehicle system . Example : If you think u are smart enough using non start stop battery until damaged, you replace back a original mazda start stop battery, and come to claim us , we can detected in system log record. telling when you changed in date n time.

Q5. How to prolong the original Battery lifespan ?
A: Aftermarket have a lot of battery charger, at least 2-3 months u have to charge the battery. and monitor the battery water level. we found many client sometime park a car few day not turning on the vehicle, so the battery power will drain out some level till battery lifespan less. secondly self switch off the istop function everytime...
