in utorrent, "offline" (timed out), which means no response from server after a period of times (base on your TCP timeout value).
Your downloading icon is RED, if none of the Tracker in your list is working.
else, you get BLUE icon.

As i asked you before, can you connect to the tracker? This isn't going to help you in your peer connections or speed.

I'm having the same problem atm, trying to find a way around it.

An offline tracker means the tracker is down. Most modern BT clients have "peer exchange" or "DHT" which allows you to download without the tracker. To put it simply, if you've connected to the tracker before, your client keeps a list of seeds/peers which it can use if the tracker goes down.

So, it's actually not a problem to get red icon, right? THanks alot~ rclxms.gif I guess i'll just let it be..or perhaps shut down utorrent n open it again for a few times until i get the blue icon~~

Proxomitron will do the job as well.. smile.gif
U can see from the log here(attached image)..

Proxomitron filter "disable"
"++Get 10+++"
user agent was utorrent/1600 and i get disconnect from tracker..

after that i enable Proxomitron filter and updating the tracker in utorrent..
"++Get 11++".. user agent changed and utorrent get a response from tracker..
*
Could you please help a bit with the Proxomitron settings that need to be tweaked to get that effect? Step-by-step please, if possible.

Thanks

About Port 8080, besides changing that in the BT client, do I need to set it in the firewall as well or it's two unrelated things?

1) after download Proxomitron, extract and run proxomitron.exe(the green icon).. If any pop-up come out from your firewall just allow it..
2) In Proxomitron main window, "Edit Filter" section, click "Headers", then a "HTTP Header Filters" window will come out..
3) In "HTTP Header Filters" window, scroll down and you will find there is 6 user-agent option.. Choose any one of them by ticking at "OUT" section and then click "Apply", "Ok"..
4) Configure your BT client to use this proxy..
5) Launch Proxomitron log windows and then start your torrent task to see if it works..

Proxomitron was using port 8080 on default so if u're behind a router, forward port 8080..

Default configuration for most firewalls would allow port 8080. You should check it though.

will try it when the sun come out. now head see stars. rclxub.gif

btw, do we still need to port forward port 8080?
since it's the http port, i thought the modem/router will allow it to get through. hmm.gif

You don't need to forward anything, you're connecting to yourself anyway. Localhost means your computer itself.

1. Introduction
Thanks to YiQi, we confirmed that tmnet is blocking bittorrent based on user-agents. So if you change the user agent, you will be able to connect to trackers. We can achieve this by using a proxy server which allows use to change the HTTP header.
Damnit.... TMNet lied to me. I called them on hotline two days ago and this support guy Zul told me he experiences the same problem at home but assures me that TMNet does not block p2p traffic... idiotic bugger.

YiQi, how did you confirm that TM-net blocks bittorents based on user agents? Some of Malaysian friends on p2p website are still able connect to tracker and do not experience this problem. Any explanation here?

TMNutz is blocking mine here (in my area), BUT in certain areas it isn't blocked. Its been like that since last week. That's confirmed! hmm.gif

Well, according to my test in this thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/399220

If you have Firefox, install the User-Agent Switcher Add-On, then add a few agents, e.g. uTorrent, BitTorrent, etc... then browse some Tracker URLs, you will get 'Connection reset by peer' while switch to those 'blacklist' UA. If switch back to normal UA, you will see the normal response. Interesting huh!

Some people don't have such problem could be various reasons:
1. They are using P2P Clients that which is not in the blacklist yet or the client didn't show its real identification in User-Agent.
2. The area where they are is not throttled by this method, yet (maybe).
Just like some people's BT is working well but some are not.

Sometimes, also wondering, "Is TMNut really throttle our P2P? Could it be the International Gateway installed by other countries which we connect to?" This is the difficult part that no one can tell.

Note: User-Agent throttling is only affect the HTTP connection, not Peer-2-Peer BT protocol (or others protocol).
