I am back from Australia for CNY. Now, in Johor. The torrent speeds are so crap that I wanted to Kill the TMNET CEO. I was getting 1-2kB/s even with more than 50 seeds on a torrent.
So, I here is what I did which increased speed a little bit.
1. Use OpenDNS at PC and router level. Or you can use GoogleDNS. 2. Use static IP. 3. Portforward the port uTorrent is using. 4. Install Proxomitron and followed the guide here in this forum.
Result: Speed went up from 1-2 kB/s for a torrent to now...11kB/s. Which is still f&^%all compared to what I got from Australia i.e. 500-700kB/s. sigh. Malaysia does suck in everywhere.
And I read from here that bitcomet gets 90kB/s? I am installing now.

Use utorrent 2.0. You will get crap speed if you use other.

This solution has been working great in uTorrent 2.0 for some time now. Thank you so much for your great work! I decided to be adventurous as I always am and I upgraded to the latest version of uTorrent (2.1 alpha build 18304). Upon opening PAW and the client, I was presented with a new error message on my trackers keeping me from connecting. The HTTP:// trackers are working perfectly fine but the HTTPS:// trackers seem to be having problems. The error message is as follows: QUOTE Could not establish a secure connection. Error -2146893048 I understand that I could easily switch back to the previous stable version of uTorrent (as the client might be causing the problem) but can anyone explain this error? I've researched uTorrent's forums and googled around for some answers. The only vague tip that I could figure out is that it DID have to do with HTTPS:// connections and proxy servers. I will be posting this in the uTorrent alpha release thread to have people look at it but I'm not sure if they can provide suppport for me because I'm utilizing PAW. The only reason I post this instead of just switching back to the stable release of uTorrent is because what if this isn't PAW's fault and uTorrent will perform in the same manner when v2.1 becomes stable? I hope uTorrent developers have just made a mistake or I have misconfigured something in PAW because I do not want the 'connection closed by peer' error in the future. PAW is my only hope

Getting Started

|
installed paw v3.0 use any user-agent you want, I chose the default
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.4.1) Gecko/20020314 Netscape6/6.2.2
then go to utorrent
Port used for incoming connection - I used a random number set your proxy server to HTTPS and port is 8080 tick use proxy for hostnames lookup and peer to peer connections
then for me, I untick all the Proxy Privacy
seems to be working well for me. good luck folks

LOL.. I was annoyed at my torrent speed for the past few weeks so I thought I dropped by here and see if there's a workaround, and sure enough this thread is right at top. Very healhy too with so many pages.. so I read the OP, download proxomitron, read a couple more post regarding the setting and got this Still got 502 error with the tracker, but I cant complain the speed after suffering ~1-2kbps for the whole this month So mayhammer, thank you for necroing this thread. and hank you silverhawk and newbieockid.. because your solution still works after few years This post has been edited by KiNA Asuki: Jan 21 2011, 04:27 PM
