Haha yeah, just use original font. You can change anything else though. I love my MGS xmb click sound haha

Hi guys,
I'm still considering to get a PSP. I would like to do development on the PSP.

First of all, what kind of firmware and motherboard should I get?

How does brick happen? Does it happen only when flashing the PSP firmware fails or it could even happen with some homebrews? (I don't want to suddenly brick my PSP when I'm testing out some codes)

Are there any SDK for the PSP which comes with an emulator of some sort?
*
what kind of development are we talking about? are you planning on writing homebrew? If so, i suggest you go to maxconsole.net. I know little about codes and development myself. Would love to learn, but dunno where to learn @_@ Mind if you teach me a move or two? much appreciated lol.
you can get any firmware psp, then upgrade it to custom firmware by yourself.
Brick happens only when you are dealing with flash0 of the psp. Depending on the homebrew you are planning to write. If you are writing normal application running homebrews(games, simple applications, networks) then you can be assured there are no risks of bricking.
However, if you're coding homebrews that writes on flash0(ie. customizing xmb, bootsounds, or anything that has to do with the firmware and the defaults of the psp) then you should be more careful.

Again, check maxconsole for SDKs, i used to have one but deleted it cause i didnt know how to use it hahaha

Because i am selling thos original firmware
i ask my supplier can help me change to custom firmware or not
he said need to charge RM50...
so wonder can do it by ourself or not....
what kind of risk??
and how to reduce the risk??

LOL, you got scammed dude. You should learn more about your product before you plan to sell it.
There is really ALMOST NO risk in flashing custom firmware. Ive done it zillion times before myself, on my machine, my friends psp, my friend's friend psp etc. etc.
All done without a sweat. First, you gotta know how to upgrade the firmwares(ALWAYS read the readme and get the latest OFFICIAL firmware). When you're doing it, just make sure the battery is ABOVE 75%(of course preferably 100%)

Thats all, just press X and everything will start flashing by itself and... voila! custom firmware psp. lol

Of course, if you really need help, i can do it for you. Of course, at a cheaper price than what your supplier is charging you haha. Its kinda, side-income lol Interested? pm me xD Im located in subang incase you really wanna know lol

Thanks Ryuuga!
I'll look into Maxconsoles forum and when I've developed my own homebrew, I'll post it here. wink.gif

U already got the option to change it in 3.52 M33. Go to recovery mode by holding R button while starting ur PSP. Then go to Configuration...and look for No-umd option. Select Sony np9660 no-umd by pressing X. There should be normal (require UMD), M33 driver no-umd, OE's Legacy no-umd and Sony np9660 no-umd.

Custom Firmware 3.52 M33 update 2
QUOTE
The previous versions did not support both Chinese and Korean languages in XMB and caused the both the homebrew and recovery to crash. You will be pleased to know that this has been fixed although the Korean font is not there. If you need it, the M33 development team suggested that obtain it by using psardumper on an official updater. After that simply put it in flash0:/font/kr0.pgf.

Here are the other changes in the update:

General Changes:

    * Document.dat of psx games were broken due to some important changes in popsman.prx and now is fixed.
    * Plus, now document.dat does not need the same gameid as game which is played.
    * The compatibility issue with irshell loading psx games in usbhost/nethost has been solved.

Changes in recovery:

    * Removed the advanced config option "use isofs on UMD inserted", as it is not useful now.
    * Added "Format flash1 and restore settings" in Advanced.
    * Added speeds 20 and 100.
    * When in usb mode inside recovery, it is impossible to turn PSP off.
    * M33 driver: fixed SBK07, now it work.

i updated already. the built in f1 formatter is a MUST.

but, just my personal opinion, psp homebrews has come a long way..since the OE times..back then, we see the official firmware holders constantly updating their firmwares while we stuck at 1.5..

now,we even have the luxury of NOT UPDATING just for the sake of it. the devs of this apps are damned pro.
