you have 3 homebrew folders: GAME, GAME150 and GAME330 (if you're firmware is 3.30OE).

apps in GAME150 folder will run under 1.5 kernel. normally all homebrews will go here since they are all made for 1.5/1.0.

apps that are in GAME330 folder will run using the 3.30 kernel, you put apps here that are made for 2.71 and above like downloadable demos, irshell for 2.71 and other stuff.

apps in GAME folder will run in whichever kernel is set in your recovery menu and would normally be empty or contain only a few apps. in my case it contains psp filer (installed in PAP\GAME\RECOVERY folder).

so basically if you place your homebrews/demos in the correct folder, changing the kernel in recovery menu will not affect your homebrews/demos. cheers!

Dark_Alex goes straight to custom firmware v3.51 OE

So let's kick off with the bad news first, v3.50 OE firmware for the PSP will never be completed. Now onto the good news, Dark_Alex will directly build v3.51 OE instead, the latest firmware version. The firmware should also feature 100% no-UMD emulation
taken from maxconsole!!

    PSP 3.51 M33 Installation

    1 - If you are under official 1.50 PSP firmware, copy kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher% folders from "1.50only/" of this download to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME/" and use it.
    2 - Once done it, or if you are under any Special/Open Edition, copy M33CREATOR folder to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME" (1.50fw) or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150" (SE/OE)
    3 - Download official 3.51 eboot, rename it to 351.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/"
    4 - Download official 1.50 eboot, rename it to 150.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/"
    5 - Go to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.51 M33 CREATOR". Once finished, it will go back to the XMB.
    6 - Go again to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.51 M33UPDATE". You'll have to press X to agree to the installation.
    7 - When finished, press X to shut down and reboot manually.
    8 - Enjoy your 3.51 M33

Yeah, it's real. I just downgraded my 3.50 PSP and upgraded to 3.51 M33. Works like a charm! Now I can access my PS3 with my PSP from anywhere in the world.  Will post the screenies in a few minutes.

i dont have ps3 but i think i gonna upgrade since its my edition...

Hello this is Cybergary relising his new Open edtion beta. The 3.51 OE-J this opean edtion is alot better than the 3.40.

The good stuff is that : it can use any xmb icons and themes from 3.40 and 3.30 and 3.03 OE. It doesnt freeze and you can use UMD!!!!!!! but some dont work. It has all the same fetures as 3.40 OE the recover mode exetera. This works for fw 1.5 2.0 3.4. it can also work 3.5 and 3.51 but it has a bigger chance of bricking. but for 1.5 2.0 3.4 is compleatle safe. You can also run it with OE versions. One thing if the install file on your psp says corrupted data or file open it and it will say This game couldnt be started the data is corrupted leave it like that and it says an other thing just leave it exepet if it says install.

Not to mention, don't boast about how it is better than DAX's FW, you give no clear instructions on how to install, you rip off DAX's name. Your .RAR only contains two files, one that is a little odd.. an eboot.pbp.rtf WTF?

Also, this part really got me wondering "This works for fw 1.5 2.0 3.4. it can also work 3.5 and 3.51" Hmm.. It seems THERE was never a 3.4, so you fail. Screw this, probably some bricker.

Long post here, get ready. Following the release of M33 custom firmware, I decided to see how my custom firmware could compare when updated to 3.51. XR is based loosely on OE, but I have no association with or rights to OE or Dark_AleX (please see notes). Here's the current info for '3.51XR':

    * Fixed compatibility issues with modules and resources. M33 has them.
    * Bug fixes.
    * Added XR recovery menu.
    * Increased theme compatibility.
    * Replaced network update with my custom firmware updater.
    * Load modules & resources from memory stick.
    * Config file on the MS for other configuration (spoof version number, recovery theming, etc.)
    * Ability to have all 12 BG images as full-res.

Features planned:

    * Play MP3/WAV/OGG on boot instead of opening sound. No length restriction.
    * Boot password protection & integrate an adapted HideMedia.
    * Ability to edit config file on MS from recovery & add MAC spoofing (only affects XMB - iDstorage is untouched).
    * Add super features such as dump/write NAND image, dump/write iDstorage to recovery.
    * Increase no-UMD compatibility.

Please don't ask for it. There are four people testing it, and we don't plan on having any more. If you would like to recommend some new features, though, please do say.

I installed 3.51 M33 on my psp and the first bug that I found is that when I go under Theme Settings> Theme, the color for April (4th color) is Blue instead of Pink.
