Publicly accessible HTTP/Telnet/SSH with common port on a consumer router is really asking for trouble. You will get hammered with connection attempts, not to mention there are bugs with aicloud a while back. It's free of charge by the way |

Will that be enough? Also, can you elaborate more on disabling WAN and using VPN? I'm using namecheap ddns and forwarding uncommon port numbers. |

QUOTE(remeron @ Jul 19 2016, 11:13 AM) I'm forwarding SSH to my server but on a different port. Will that be enough? That should be enough if your login & password is secure. At least you won't get hammered. Also, can you elaborate more on disabling WAN and using VPN? I'm using namecheap ddns and forwarding uncommon port numbers. WAN access can be enabled, which you shouldn't, from Administration > System page, which basically allows some of the service (SSH, Web admin etc) accessible from the internet. You can setup the PPTP or OpenVPN. Also don't simply port forward to ipcam. Some ipcam have special URL that don't have any authentication. Sometimes there are backdoor access intended for the manufacturer testing only but end up being abused by others. Just because it is not documented doesn't people can't find it. |

QUOTE(Stanull @ Jul 18 2016, 09:21 PM) Guys, I need help. press the reboot button on ur browser. I managed to reach the Emergent Upgrade Page and uploaded the modified WS880_trans.bin. The next page shows Upload Completed but it didn't boot to the CFE miniweb server as per the guide, even after 60secs. So I clicked on the Continue link on the Upload Completed page. However, it shows page cannot be displayed. Tried to access 192.168.1.1 on both chrome and IE but no result. I repeat the 'power off-hold reset button-power on' process and I still can't access 192.168.1.1. The Internet light is still flashing on the router. I don't know what to do now. Please help me re upload the file then. same problem here, everything is fine now |

Hi sepulse, thanks for replying. re upload the file then. same problem here, everything is fine now Mind to elaborate further on 'press the reboot button on ur browser'? I don't see reboot button because I can't connect to 192.168.1.1 using Chrome or IE. |

QUOTE(Stanull @ Jul 19 2016, 11:52 AM) Hi sepulse, thanks for replying. If you entered the MAC address without the ":", then there's a high chance your router might be bricked.Mind to elaborate further on 'press the reboot button on ur browser'? I don't see reboot button because I can't connect to 192.168.1.1 using Chrome or IE. I suggest you try getting into Emergency Upgrade page again by doing the resetting procedure. Maybe you can try this: 1. Make sure your router is on. 2. Pull the adapter cable off. (Don't turn off at the power switch), just pull it off. 3. Make sure your network adapter setting IP is correct. Ie. IP address 192.168.1.5, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1 4. Start command prompt. Then type: ping -t 192.168.1.1 5. Then poke the reset button on the huawei router. 6. Plug the cable back in. 7. Hold the reset button until you see a reply from the ping at command prompt. 8. If you see a reply, release the reset button. 9. Then open up Microsoft Edge (if you're using windows 10), and type at the address bar 192.168.1.1 Keep trying this process. Good luck. This post has been edited by remeron: Jul 19 2016, 01:19 PM |

QUOTE(jio @ Jul 19 2016, 11:35 AM) That should be enough if your login & password is secure. At least you won't get hammered. If you have ssh, then just disable password login and only use public key. That's about as secure as you can make it. Best if only have one key (I have half a dozen because I have individual keys for backup, using my router as NAS). Basically without the key file no way for anyone to get in.WAN access can be enabled, which you shouldn't, from Administration > System page, which basically allows some of the service (SSH, Web admin etc) accessible from the internet. Of course, if at any time you lose control of any of your devices faster delete that key from your router! Side-note, ASUSWRT can't take more than 3 or 4 keys in their web ui, I save the keys in a separate file in /jffs/scripts/ and then add it to /home/root/.ssh/authorized_keys on boot. When I tried to put all the keys one shot in the UI not only did it truncate my keys, it also must have corrupted something on my NVRAM as my DDNS stopped working. Hard reset fixed it though. |

How high is your temperature?btw the router is quite good. testing it on my office today. 30+ clients also not hang but the temp is quite high Mine is 82C in a room without air-cond switched on. Mine is the highest as far as I know. The important thing is that the router is still rock solid and stable. |

You've bricked your router by not typing the ":" symbol Send it back to Sri Computers for RMA, if they have stock then you should be able to get a 1-to-1 replacement right away If not, then you'll have to wait for the normal RMA process I bought mine via Lazada. So I have to return thru Lazada? Don't think I can proceed RMA at Sri Computers using a Lazada receipt right? |
