Apparently CIMB has this T&C that if the cash rebate for the billing month is less than rm10, the system will allow us to pay the statement balance less the rebate amount.

However, if the cash rebate is more than rm10 in that billing month, you need to pay the stated statement balance without deducting the cash rebate. If you don't do that, you will be penalised with finance charges for the difference.

I just checked my CIMB Clicks and I was hit by RM20++ (small amount, I know) finance charges for last month's bill. I called up CS Centre and I was told of such T&C by the lady on the other side of the line. I have checked the T&C on CIMB's website but it doesn't state such T&C. I have yet to check the T&C booklet that came along with the credit card.

So, I'm just curious if anyone here got hit by such charges? I usually pay all my credit card bills by deducting the cash rebate from the statement balance. I always assumed that as long as the credit card account shows RM0.00 for outstanding balance and minimum payment, it means I have cleared all my payment due to the bank.

P.S. Please correct me if I'm wrong and I'm using CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard

I would suggest a BNM complaint on this matter. Ask them to show the written T&C clearly which stated "cash back" is not part of the credit card "payment" method. It does not really make sense to allow "cash back less than RM10" as part of the payment for credit card but not "cash back more than RM10"

Happened to my Airasia Ezpay debit card which they charged RM2 (I know..it's just RM2 FFS) for "inactive" account within 30 days of the last transaction, a clause verbally told by them by phone. I called and emailed them with the T&C stated in their website which they only said there "must be transaction" every month to get the RM2 waived..finally they credited the RM2 to my account

CIMB try to be sneaky.
As they try to squeeze every cents that they can get from consumer.

OMG, i just checked my last month bill and the same thing is happened to me, finance charge rm59.04 on 28/8!! I usually paid the bills based on the statement balance which is after deduct cash rebate, never know about this T&C.

I went to midvalley cimb n queried them how's the finance charge was derived. They can't give me the answer n finally the finance charge has been waived. The funny thing is, they have no idea on the T&C and they can't confirm to me whether should pay before or after deduct cash rebate!

Believe not many people aware of this clause, better close the account with immediate effect since this card is useless given that credit card top up can only be done for first time on card registration only

Good to do that..a lot of time they have no clues on what they are doing

Did they credit the money to your account immediately?

Should I opted for auto debit 2% Cash back or Pos Online?

When I was at Cold Storage last nite making payment. I noticed that when the cashier key in the cash register machine, the LCD of the card terminal link to the cash register machine show the contactless logo... But the cashier didn't tap my credit card, instead inserted the card into the terminal to complete the transaction.

You suppose to tap the card yourself. Normally you need to inform the cashier that you'll be using contactless method.

Standing Instruction gives 2%. If you use PosOnline, it is 5%-2.12% still more than 2%, I think it is quite obvious? Or what was your query regarding?

cimb forex rates also quite high 2-2.5% so it's better to use other cards when you go shopping overseas or buying stuff online with other currencies
