hello... I have a question, appreciate if somebody can help...
I got an interview at Macpherson road, I plan to take bus back to KL this Friday evening right after the i'view.
Any suggestion for the nearest bus stop with more choices? I want to buy the ticket on the spot.

You might want to secure a ticket first. Why not just go for the later ones so you guarantee can catch the bus and probably spend some time in SG.

It's Friday night so the ticket might be sold out if you try to get it on the spot.

Go to Golden Mile after your interview. I just booked a ticket to KL last week at the last minute, so many seats left. There are so many providers to choose from: 5 star, transtar, etc. Cheapest is SGD$18 to KL, the one I picked was SGD $25 transtar.

Hey hey singapore workers/businessmen,

Is it hard for a fresh grad malaysia engineer to get a job in singapore? I tried for months applying singapore jobs but until now I have not receive any single calls. I am keen to know their concerns on giving me a hiring opportunity. Is it because i am fresh? Or because I am a Malaysian? or because its a hassle to settle my working visa? I dont see all these a problem frankly.

Companies have to pay levies to the government for hiring (lower ranked) foreign employees. Companies have foreign worker quotas. Companies have to go through the hassle to apply work pass. Companies have to declare their percentage of foreign workforce to the government whenever they endorse an employee for PR application.

So why should a company go through all this hassle to hire you if there is ample supply of PR/SC fresh grad Engineers from local universities?

Well maybe i am wrong but i see the working culture in singapore to be much stressful than that of malaysia. I am a person who love aggresive environment because i am still young and is highly stretchable to be a stronger person. I dont mind getting sgd2500 salary like that.

Hi Folks, I got an offer from a Switzerland company that having their SEA headquarter based in Singapore. The wage will be in SGD currency (they ask for expected salary I request for the same pay of my current company but in SGD currency. I receiving wage in MYR.)
They’re not sure which one is a better option, to let me based in Singapore but travel to Malaysia frequent, or to let me based in Malaysia because I take care of the market here.
If based in Singapore – they have to pay levy
If based in Malaysia – they have concern about the tax issue. Should I declare the tax to Singapore or MYR? From the company standpoint, which one is a better option?
Appreciate if experienced person can help to clarify of this case. Thank you

Usually such applicant I shall place aside.

Unless you are recommended by someone within the industry .

Remember kid everyone says they are good , action speaks louder than words .

If want to work in SG try harder , else gain experience only move to SG , if you are that good you can even top in MY need not to go SG .

Yes, it's because you are a foreigner, inexperienced and require a special visa application. This may not be a problem for you, but are big problems for HR and employers. Also think from the perspective of the employer, not yourself, this is especially true when you answer questions in an interview.

I read on HWZ forum that some NUS grads are having difficulty getting graduate jobs. Obviously local grads in SG are more valued, which may explain why you are having difficulties. What type of engineering are you doing? From my understanding, the industry is not at its best, so graduate jobs are scarce.

If you spent the last few months looking for jobs in SG to no avail, I would suggest you give up on SG, and apply for reputable firms in MY. Later on, when you have two years or more experience, definitely try again in Singapore.

As a recent graduate, I spent a total of two months trying to find accounting jobs in SG. I was fortunate and managed to get 3 offers from mid tiers, and 1 offer from a small company. So if you haven't even been invited for interviews in SG, move on and hunt for malaysia jobs which will be easier.

Yes , fill in the income tax as per normal .

means you declare tax in Malaysia , as you will be consider receiving income at Malaysia .

I just realize 1 disadvantage , MY tax rate higher .

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Even the currency in SGD? In this case am I still entitled to tax deductions as a Malaysian citizen?

Is it better if I consider to receive wage in SGD but based in MYR so I only declare to SG.. Which one is a better choice?

If I don't have epf here, should I ask the employer to subsidize the tax or anything to trade off the additional tax?

the 2 options that you mentioned have different tax implications on the company and you, better ask the company to consult their tax consultants to get the best advice
