I pass by RHB booth every working day in MV and none of the staff will approach me. This same goes to all other booths in MV for e.g. UOB, HSBC and SCB. doh.gif Even when I'm outside also not approached by these agents. Face problem? Looks too poor? Or young look? laugh.gif Even my colleagues and friends find this funny and I have the most cards among them.

Nevertheless, if I know it has good promo, I may consider but well I don't like to approach them. If apply directly via bank, I supposed will also have.

You must be lookong young. Positive. smile.gif
And i am very thick face uncle. Alwiz go and ask what they can offer me. They sometimes have special items that is not openly displayed. biggrin.gif

She'll probably get commission for new card applicant, but BT and all doesnt fall to her branch. It's a card facility and doesnt impact her even if you leech it.

Hi guys,

My friend has about rm5k outstanding balance with MBB ikhwan. He can commit 500 per month, which is more than the minimum, but the numbers just seem the same to him 😅 So told him BT might be a good choice. Plan to settle within 12 mths. Any bank to recommend? And what would be the procedure, basically just ask the banker? Help is appreciated. Thanks

your friend need to have another bank credit card in order to balance transfer to other bank.. find those bank which offer lowest or near to 0% fees BT, apply their card and submit the balance transfer to that bank..
the problem now is whether your friend new credit card application in that another bank will get approve or not...if too much late payment or miss payment record in ccris records, bank will reject any new cc/loan application..

Thanks for your response. he never misses any payment, he said. He just could not afford to pay em in full. So he should apply for a new card ya.. what about the current card, will be cancelled once the balance is transferred?

And any bank to recommend? I read you guys posted abt HLB and PBB..

if he cannot pay in full, each month, then he SHOULD STOP using the card and continue clearing the oustanding.

chances to apply new card is low to no chance to get approved considering the bad records.

sorry to say, forget about spending more with the card or applying new cards. dont keep digging the debt hole deeper.

Exactly what I told him. He said he kinda insaf already and wanted to just pay without further using the card. So he was asking me if there is a way for him to settle it and save a bit on the interest. If, for instance, he has a balance of abt 5k, and managed to pay on time, without fail, 500 per mth.. his BT application at other banks has a high chance of not being approved?

1) does he have other cards to BT to?

2) if no, have to apply. chances to get approved is slim.

3) if yes, does the card/bank have 0% BT? study each card/bank. if no 0%, is the upfront fee % rate worth it?

To be honest, the very important key is - how much is your friend earning per annum, whether he can apply for new cards to do BT etc depends on that.
Since your friend did not miss any payment, should not fall into bad credit score that much.
For example, some of us here have so much balance in credit card account (due to BT) but with prompt payments and adequate income, there's no problem applying for new cards.
Anyhow no harm trying since not much damage compare to currrnt situation.
So, good choice for BT would be 0% ambank, pbb, aeon. But application is super strict and stingy credit limit
Now ambank also have 0% bt for 1 year. Which may suit your friend. Ambank have generous CL, hopefully easier to get approval too.
So i suggest your friend to try ambank first.
Note: applying too many will kind of leave an 'enquiry' to the credit report. So i suggest to prioritize your friend's application to the banks that are easier to get, ie in my opinion ambank > aeon > pbb.
In fact i would not try aeon & pbb if ambank fails. Might scout for other banks first even though may not have 0% bt.

thanks for the insight. government servant, earning about 3.5k per mth.. tried looking at ambank's website but I only see the 4.99% / 8.99% one? or should walk in for further info?

Actually in his case, is it wiser to stop using and pay off till the 5k is finished, or to do BT in the first place? sweat.gif
