best way to test your max speed is via downloading anything uploaded to google drive.

not all speedtest provider can reach up to 1gbps on their upload and download.

I'm currently on 300Mbps plan. Waiting to be upgraded.

What you guys thinking about "Asus RT-AC86U" router? Thinking to get one to replace old dlink router.

I read some reviews said that router is very good. Is that true?

as long as it's not a lemon unit, it's good.
pricey, though.

i have 2x with aimesh activated since early this year (close to 1 year).
it made my Streamyx 8Mbps smooth before having my Taman Unified mid May'18.

Those with AC5300 with 1Gbps package, what's the wifi DL/UL max speed can you get on 5Ghz?

Yes Asus rt-ac86u is a good router but pricey. Here's one listed in Lazada @ Rm5xx pricetag

Another bang for buck alternative is Tenda ac18 below Rm300, can flash asus rt-ac68u merlin firmware which mean hardware spec is similar to the rt-ac68u.

Email just checked the speed with LAN. It's over 100mpbs now so that checks out. The only thing is I'm using the old ZTE router so I can't get ast 40mbps on wifi

Email and yes the old ZTE. Never bothered to upgrade the router but now might as well since I'm bottlenecking my own connection

I'm contemplating whether I should buy a new gigabit switch for my network.
I got the free AC1200 router from TIME recently so I think I should be able to get the speed upgrade.
Maybe I should wait for official announcement first before buying new switch.

The thing is I have to buy 2 switches cry.gif
1 to extend the cable and the other for multiple PCs.
