Just got Time Fibre 100 Mbps, so for looks good.
However I'm not really impressed with the D-link DIR-850L router.

I have my own TP-Link Archer C7 router and want to use it instead. I had UniFi before this.

The tech guy who installed told me that all I should have to do is to change the PPPoE username and password and then I should be good to go.

Unfortunately I cannot connect. If I switch back to the D-link router (with the almost no settings) it just works...
Time Support just refers me to the manufacturer for support instead of giving me info enough for me to solve it on my own.

Anyone else in here using TP-Link with their Time Fibre who cares to share?

Yes the cable on my modem is on LAN 1. I didnt remove the cable from modem, only unplug it from D-link DIR-850L router and plug in to tp-link router.

Yes I copied the same PPPoE ID (XXX@timebb) and password (XXXXXX) from d-link router to tp-link as well... but it just doesnt connect to the internet..   

Hi guys, I'm planning to change to timet net sometime this month.  My only concern is how do i watch local tv channels (8tv, ntv7)? I'm using mi box to watch china contents. Any app which i need to manually install to watch local tv stations? Tried kodi and cloud tv, both doesn't work.

But now I'm trying to replace the D-Link DIR-850L router with my own Asus RT-AC68U which I used for Unifi and I can't get it to connect with the modem.

I've done everything I can think of, e.g. double-checking if the PPPOE username and password is correct and checking if the ethernet cables from the Asus to the modem are ok (everything works fine again when I reconnect my Asus with my Unifi modem and the D-link with the Time modem).

I took a look in the Asus router logs and there's a 'Timeout waiting for PADO packets' message. It seems that the Asus is physically unable to talk with the Time modem. Is there something simple that I'm missing?

Yup, I thought that was probably the problem, but I went through the quick setup process again a few times and made sure that the Special Requirement from ISP checkbox was unchecked.

but leh...got specific condo leh those resident want apply Time need go thru condo management..they got specify agents and contractor to do the job..
u apply thru other agents ke or Time website they do not allow them come in...

you can login time selfcare. it have rebate. after rebate the 100mbps price around RM70.

Also due to signal. Nearest can get full speed, further away can get a bit lower. Can check for me whether your PC link speed up to how much. Mine using AC1900 link speed up to 866.7Mbps.

U can download wifi analyzer on android or pc to check if ur neighbour ssid are running on the same channels as yours. 5GHz less likely to intefere. But u can check and change the channel in your router if necessary.

Was using tplink touch p5 ac1900 when 500mbps first came out. Now upgraded to asus rt-ac 5300.

I have done my homework. Just please dont waste your money on usb sticks.

My max 500mbps. Even my touch p5 1900 can reach max 500mbps on 5ghz.

The main problem is the receiver. Cheapskate usb receiver can only get 2xx mbps on 5ghz. Once i uograde to T9E 500mbps all the way man like LAN cable.

Now waiting TIME to upgrade my 500mbps to 1gbps so i can test it out. The 5300 is overkill for normal ppl  but i need it to stream my HEVC 4k movies (80gb avg) through plex to multiple family members.

What router u using? If u get around 800mbps is good enough.

If u use purely for DL, not much server around the world support full 1gbps download. You alone can saturate the whole bandwidth of the server, and imagine there are 100 of the likes of u around tge world.

Feasible 300-450 mbps dl is good enough la for dl movie from server. Unless u torrent la. I dunno liaw.

Iperf can always get higher cox not much overhead. Real life speedtest lower will be lower. When i stayed in KLCC i always get full speed on speedtest regardless time of the day. Once move to residential, sometimes wont get full speed also. Maybe ur area everyone upgraded deswai bandwidth in ur area all saturated. My area this morning they are quickly laying new fibre cables to address the speed bust ( mont kiara)

Those with AC5300 with 1Gbps package, what's the wifi DL/UL max speed can you get on 5Ghz?
