bro, saw u using xp120+CM led silent fan. is the fan good enough to pair with ur xp120??CM silent fan is one of my choice since it totally silent compared to others. but the total cfm quite low.of coz la since its a silent fan. anyway,what is ur temp??
*
nice fan. thumbup.gif quiet and bling bling. The airflow also not bad. biggrin.gif i would recommand this fan if you aim for silent. wink.gif

now idle at 38C+-, load prime <55C @ 3.2GHz brows.gif

Told ya, but it'll cost quite a bomb smile.gif

Yup, yet the performance is bottleneck by s478 due to cpu, agp, ddr1 etc sweat.gif . Like what irangan use 1950pro on his 3.4C. Not really worth it for the price/performance. Unless you are using s939 then more juice can squeeze. Correct me if i am wrong. icon_rolleyes.gif

Definitely will bottleneck
For AGP, best is to use the AMD64 with newer GPUs

wow, rather spend big bucks for hi-end AGP graphics (should be around 1K or more), rather spend that cash buy mobo, ram and CPU, best bang for the buck. (of course not c2d rig, but A64 or X2).

everyone's demand on games is different la, kawan. Some would not spend over than 300(just like me tongue.gif ), some game freak willing to spend 2k++ on gc. Agp highend is not worth for sure. high price and bottlenecking the real performance by old tech really a pain in neck when compare to other rig that using the same gc.

@KahLoon

Dont get those x800 series. It only support up to SM2.0 and DirectX9.0B. Your car will looks weird if you play NFS: Carbon. Haha.. Alot of my friend sold out their x800 series cards after playing those mid to high end games.

Keep your useless comment to yourself. Read this thread's Title if you are lost. This thread is for people that still using socket 478. People here are not stupid and they know exactly what they are doing. Dont need you to advise them on how to spend their money.

Previously, I spent a lot of money of previous 478 rig. People like you said I am stupid but like I care, the bottom line is I enjoy it.

relax man, he is just point out his point of views. Like i said before, everyone's demand is different. icon_rolleyes.gif

if i have 1959pro, i will eyeing for 939 rig to pair it. No doubt that it is the king of agp and ddr1 era. thumbup.gif

@overclockalbert
Is your 3800+ X2 is s939? as i know it is quite rare and expensive for X2 s939 and s940. i am quite blur on x2 on 939. mostly is AM2. tongue.gif ops....i think i off topic. XD

maybe i'm wrong about the 3800+ X2. maybe it's a am2 socket. i'm getting it from a frend actually. still waiting for it to reach my hand.
anyway, no hope for me i think. just stick to what i have.....
if it's am2, then i just sell it off.

hey bro, sorry to have offended you, just wanna clarify that I never said anything about stupidity, etc, or purposely 'spam' to gain post count, i just got carried away in stating my personal opinions. never meant any disrespect. will stick to thread title next time. no hard feelings, k? i will b more sensitive in future postings. notworthy.gif

Just wanna add, I do believe current mid range to high end AGP cards are able to breathe in new life for our s478 rig, or to extend the capabilities of our rig. That's why I got myself a 7600GS AGP for my P4 3.06Ghz in the first place. nod.gif

Anyway, back to the s478 topic, here is an interesting temperature chart taken from xbitlabs with P4 HT enabled and disabled, and found an increase in temp when HT disabled (especially in idle mode).

user posted image

more detailed info on the following site for reading pleasure, just wanna share it with all the s478 enthusiasts here. I wonder if the result also reflects the users that have non HT P4 cpu? hmm.gif

754 also phase out now with the so-so performance. And yet, our s478 rigs are still alive and kickin'. Need more ways to fully utilise what we have now, like adding RAM, better VGA cards, sound card, etc. drool.gif

Its still good for many applications, multimedia centre, moderate gaming machine, internet surfing, file server, etc. Many many ways to put our s478 rig into good use. I don't consider P4 2.4Ghz and above 'slow' for day to day usage. The HT technology also helps in CPU load balancing, which is very helpful (cheapskate way to emulate dual core, blush.gif )

Mods and improvements can be done for S478 rig, like silent the system by using sound dampening materials, silent fans, change stock cooling, case mods. Definately worth the time and effort spent on it, cause I've done it on mine, priceless satisfaction! I trust many of s478 owners here have done the same too. laugh.gif
