QUOTE(edministrator @ Apr 3 2007, 01:28 PM) hey bro, sorry to have offended you, just wanna clarify that I never said anything about stupidity, etc, or purposely 'spam' to gain post count, i just got carried away in stating my personal opinions. never meant any disrespect. will stick to thread title next time. no hard feelings, k? i will b more sensitive in future postings. Interesting review. I know that the P4 procs will insert idle cycle into the processors when the proc is overheated. About the condition on HT enable and disable, this is the first time i see the temperature result on them. The burn-in Sandra will causing higher temp on HT enable compare to the HT disable while in gaming is the other way round. Just wanna add, I do believe current mid range to high end AGP cards are able to breathe in new life for our s478 rig, or to extend the capabilities of our rig. That's why I got myself a 7600GS AGP for my P4 3.06Ghz in the first place. Anyway, back to the s478 topic, here is an interesting temperature chart taken from xbitlabs with P4 HT enabled and disabled, and found an increase in temp when HT disabled (especially in idle mode). ![]() more detailed info on the following site for reading pleasure, just wanna share it with all the s478 enthusiasts here. I wonder if the result also reflects the users that have non HT P4 cpu? http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/p4-temp.html |

QUOTE(kabukiawie @ Apr 4 2007, 02:10 PM) many reported decrease of few fps with HT on, I think due to reserved cpu cycles for other process. i think HT only manage to get the multitasking better than normal single core. What i can think is that it uses virtual dual core and divided tasks evently on cpu cycle when multiple tasks running. So you will feel that it slow down but not lag.

one good thing about HT is it tricks XP into recognizing there are 2 cores. Basically its just 2 threads at 1 time. About it giving out performance, only programs which utilises HT only, if not its useless.
So if you run single threaded applications which runs at 100%, it only runs at 50% This post has been edited by shinjite: Apr 4 2007, 06:48 PM |

Hi im new to this section of the forums. I have 2 questions, whats the max a p4 2.4a can go w/o voltmodding? and has anyone tried fiddling around with the timings for radeon 9800se running on omega drivers?

Checked my usage is 100%. I believe because my encoder (TMPGenc) utilizes both virtual core. No one can exactly tell you how far you can overclock with you CPU. Is your CPU Northwood or Prescott? If you're not sure, google for cpu-z and run it for verification of core type and stepping. When you have the info, I believe the rest of the sifu here can assist you more. This post has been edited by edministrator: Apr 4 2007, 07:46 PM |

hmm...its exactly same as mine.
not really a great overcloker but mine manage to oc 3.0GHz stable max at stock voltage, stock cooling. With proper cooling right now manage to squeeze 200MHz more with 1.475v vcore. screenshot taken from my previous post. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=Atta...=post&id=209335 This post has been edited by kabukiawie: Apr 4 2007, 09:54 PM |

560usd is killing price. That price can get a 8800gtx. after convert less than 1k still can accept. Nevermind la, now your rig can can easily blow away that EE performance with a sneeze.
i dont know 939x2 is cheap out there. as i know last time when x2 just came out, high price. Now with the popularize of am2, every1 is switching. if right now having a good agp gc on hand maybe go for 939 x2 will be worth. Other than that better stick to old rig, save $ direct move to am2 or darkside. Wondering when is my next upgrade. next year maybe. |

Use Orthos straight
Using Prime95 source code Plus u don't have to open 2 instances of Prime95 for Orthos for memory use memtest86, to check 3D stability for your RAM, play games or loop 3dmark |
