Shit. Someone should point out to Maxis that their method of blocking RS is lame.
*
i think maxis is the one that should explain why they impose ban on rapidshare download to their customer... i consider rapidshare just like any other websites.....they never inform & notes their customer about the issue....

You mean, explain it to the heavy downloaders?

I see RS as alternative to Torrent.

I hate Torrent.

ya la..must at least explain or note customer on why they block direct download such as rapidshare.....if torrent it's understandable because it's p2p application....

if they consistent, why no ban on other download site ?
if ban on direct download meaning that their internet 99 unlimited is no more unlimited la...

Well, every company wants to make a profit...its their fault for launching the Unlimited when they don't have enough infrastructure to support the plan.

Anyways, I guess we the D99 customers are a *rare breed*...don't terminate it, I'm sure there are many others who would love to get their hands on the D99 package smile.gif

Any type of blocking or ban can be easily bypassed with a proxy. Getting a reliable proxy these days are quite cheap....just spend about RM30/month for a good socks5 proxy....much cheaper than Astro tongue.gif From my experience speed there will only be about 2-4% of speed degradation if downloading through a proxy.

P.S. I have enough points on RS to get 9 months of premium brows.gif

Btw, anyone here interested to buy a ZTEMF600 modem? I'm planning to ditch it and get a new USB type modem....

i'm downloading rapidshare using my streamyx now....huhu... smile.gif

in addition to my comment earlier, at least maxis should inform their customer first before imposing ban to certain websites during certain period....not because of heavy downloaders or whatsoever....but the the purpose of what if a customer who need to download something urgent (let say the file size 5mb) on rapidshare during peak hour, the ban surely will cause the customer an inconvenience experienced..at least by noticing customers, they could prepare with other alternatives....

hey guys, i just changed my operator again from celcom->digi-> and now to maxis!

first, i had some probs with celcom 3g over here in penang around bayan lepas area, it wasn't stable to say at least. Then digi was good, very stable edge support no matter where i go. Eventually, i changed my line to maxis thinking it would be a better 3g than celcom...but boy, was i wrong.

I can't seem to get a good 3g connection here, my phone kept going into gprs mode (can't even find edge) and also it's hard to have 3g mode at all...whats going on? Is maxis coverage in penang really that bad?

Anyone care to share your experience here for penang 3g?

If yes i have to start switching back to digi again sad.gif

TURORIAL FOR FREE USER AGINST MAXIS RS BLOCK...
the work around is abit difficult.... coz you need to go through 2 IP lookup and URL replace ....hope someone could find an easier method... anyway here it goes...

1) Open any RS lnks...
for ex:
2) If you do a "mouse over" over the free user button and watch the URL bar at the bottom of your browser you can see the actual address to the RS "free user countdown timer" page
in this case:

this is a bit tricky part... coz maxis would not allow you to go to the "count down" page due to the existance of "rapidshare.com" in the above links.

So you need to do an IP look up for the above "rs63.rapidshare.com" in this case it is "195.122.131.64"

3) This is where you trick MAXIS to allow you to do the link jump....
i- From that RSlinks page.. Do a "view source..." (By clicking on "view" pulldown list in your browser and clicking on "source")
ii- You will see the html page source in notepad or any text editor
iii- In the text editor replace the URL with the IP. (tips do a search for keyword "method="post"" to easily find the code links)
iv-Save the file as anyname.HTML file format.
v-Double-click/open the saved html file, once opened you will get a strip down look of the original webpage but the "free user" button is still visible. Just double click on it and you should be able to go to the "count down" page

Now to get to the "Final IP..."

4) Once count down finish and the download button appears... do another "view sorce".... you should now be seeing the html code of the page and do a search for the keywords "mirror" onclick=" there is a bunch of links there just do a URL=>IP replace on any of the "FINAL LINKS" here and copy and paste the whole modified links in any browser or IDM...

It should now works...

GOOD LUCK... thumbup.gif
sorry for the length tutorial

simple alternative... since u r using nokia... in your network setting set 3G ONLY means your phone will connect to the net with 3G only... if bad signal 1 bar or NO bar it wont go to EDGE or GPRS
