dear sifu, looking for mechanical keyboard for gaming ....
dilemma between k70 vs g710+ , which one would be better choice ? or any other recommend ? thanks smile.gif

There are many reviews for those 2 keyboards which have been around for years. The keyboard layouts are different and they use different stabilizers. Take your pick.

Hello fellow veterans, does anyone have a first hand experience or knowledge regarding the the build quality between filco and ducky?

I'm deciding between the filco's tkl and ducky's http://www.duckychannel.com.tw/page-en/Duc...KL-non-backlit/ or http://www.duckychannel.com.tw/page-en/Ducky-One-TKL/

There is quite a difference in price. Any reason I should pick one over the other?

Build quality Ducky par with Filco. But for Filco, it's using costar stabilizer, so it have better typing feel compared to Ducky's Cherry stabilizers. Both are from same OEM in Taiwan.

So, if you looking for non-backlit, get Filco. Otherwise, get Ducky.

Hi guys recently got my first MK, newbie here
Logitech G710+ for RM307 after discount.

love the brown switches, it also comes with o ring but i dont know what type

I kind of prefer to shorten the travel depth.
I took a oring off a key and put 2x oring on the other key.

It feels good with 2x orings, 3x orings will not fit.

-What kind of orings do G710+ use?

-should i get some ones which is extra thick so i just use 1x thick oring instead of 2x thin orings?

-hard to find locally and very expensive
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/120Pcs-Sili...4eb735cf7&tpp=1

good deal?

Yeah I agree that they are close enough to be comparable.

Why isn't Kuzumi Taiga's link for cheap Lingyi/Aula keyboards in your 1st post? And the the CM QFR-i should be removed from the recommended list due to the high rate of led failures, or at least a disclaimer about the issue.

The g710+ might have an issue with keycap stems breaking which I think is made worse by using o-rings especially thick ones since it shortens the portion of the stem that slots into the switch and that weakens the keycap.

The recommendation list is outdated. I will remove the recommendation list for temporary.

You can find the links of Kuzumi Taiga in garage sales. The original policy of MKB Club is, we don't promote individual sales for their own benefits. If you want me to put Lingyi/Aula, then I can help to put taobao or their distro link if they have 1.

Thanks for the input! Just for curiosity, are there any other brands I should be awake of for tkl style keyboards?

Thanks for the input! I was considering the QFR-i initially, but was put down by the led issues too. However, i read that most led failures are from the first batch, and subsequent batches are getting better. Don't quote me on it though, just something I read from somewhere else.

newbie here
mk vs rubber membrane/laptop

still trying to get use to the brown switches, i noticed it needs to travel like 1mm before it actually starts to hit the bump/ramp
eg first 0-1mm is the 45g then from 1-2mm is the 55g bump/ramp

find myself not tying as fast as i need to push down longer distance before it registers compared to laptop or membrane
i initially thought it was the 4mm bottoming out, but when i type most of the time i will not bottom out, so putting 2x o-rings will not help this issue.

wish there was something like the cherry silent brown equivalent.
eg short actuation distance of only 1.2mm instead of 2mm
eg 0-1.2mm is 55g straight up to Tactile Force bump/ramp. so its kind of like laptop / membrane

is this something to get use to? or you guys will pass this phase?
or you guys actually like the long travel distance?

Yeah, there are different batches with newer packaging design. I still taking photo for latest packaging design of Quick Fire Rapid-i.

Anyone here has lubed Cherry Mx Silent yet? Can tell me if it'll make the switches smoother? I don't really like the mushyness of the switches.

Yes thats the advantage of standard layout. You could try landing pads (or something similar) which doesn't shorten the inserted length of the keycap/stem which makes the stem more prone to breaking.

To be fair, you are promoting your own storeuni.com business in your sig in the 1st post. And Kuzumi Taiga might not be making a profit (or very slim one) selling cheap RM150 keyboards so its more of a community service and not a business especially since he is offering personal limited warranty when other local sellers lazada do not.
I haven't bought anything from him or know him yet, I just found out about his cheap mkb deals. He's given out his real name/info(Cheah) so he isn't just some nick on lyn.

I do removed every sellers link including all distro last night to be fair. You can check again on this.

A business is always a business, it's never a community service.
And I do received lots of comments about his business method of sailang, killing off other small businesses that have similar nature.

If you found the deal is cheap, it's up to your decision to buy. You can't force everyone to accept and put it in the first post, imbibug.

If you are not too particular about standard key layouts, many gaming brands have tkl keyboards with non-std layout. If you buy from China, theres reputable brands like keycool, noppo, plum. Chinese brands mostly use cherry clone switches. Theres alot of new Chinese kb recently with chinese clone switches gaining popularity and acceptance.

I'm interested in open/lidless designs like the corsairs because its easier to clean and any liquid spills will drain out easier if it happens.

The tkl/fullsize Lingyi's only have black/blue and I want cherry browns or clone browns.

when i started the mkb club i was initially offered to be reseller for mkb (i won't mention which brand xd..) but wasn't interested. i just made the club as a hobby. if people want to make a business for profit or non profit, either is fine with me (i need to buy parts from time to time so good for me smile.gif )

i think as a discussion area for mkbs everything here is transparent so i don't really see a problem with quo conductin his own business here. also like he said if you can find a better deal elsewhere, all fines and well then, and thread here is open for discussion on all mkb related stuff if you find a good deal and want to share it with the rest of us hmm.gif i think a while back when i also made a similarly suggested moogle kit group buy over at geekhacks as an example (though in my case it was a non profit project)thumbsup.gif
https://deskthority.net/wiki/Adapter_kit#Moogle_kit

anyway quovadis123 does a lot of work to manage the club, so if he want to link in ts, i got no issues with it, simply said. if there are alternatives, i'm sure it can be found in the subsequent pages in the thread, there shouldn't be any censorship i'm sure hmm.gif

Build quality of the Ducky One TKL RGB while good, does not feel as solid as the CM QFR-i. Perhaps it is partly due to it being lighter? However, the case edges feel and look nicer as they are bevelled, no flex. Also, the case does not have the "rubbery" coating/finish found on the CM QFR-i, which I prefer. Keycaps are nice double shot ABS.

This time round, I went for MX Brown switch and must say that I am loving it over the MX red of the CM QFR-i. There's the tactile feel without the intrusive clicky-ness of MX Blue.

Programing of the RGB lighting could have been better approached by Ducky with a software instead of the pains of doing it via the keyboard physically.

Lastly, capslock key is permanently lighted. To know which case you are on, you will have to rely on the indicator light above the INS key.

RRP currently is RM589 for this.

EDIT : The cable that come with it is too short (possible only 1.5 metres) and unbraided.

Gotta say that I agree with these parts that I quoted. I got one Ducky One TKL non-backlit myself.
The rubbery feel is mostly depending on your own preference, though I like the Ducky One's smooth housing instead.
Regarding the stabilizers, I find myself sometimes double-pressing spacebars without noticing as Cherry MX stabilizers tend to have that effect.

Also do note that the non-backlit version of the Ducky One TKL apparently ships with backlit keycaps. If you look at your keyboard a lot, it's quite an eyesore TBH.

I bought some LEDs from taobao and awaiting delivery, soldering my Ducky One TKL non-backlit with some orange LED soon tongue.gif
