Build quality of the Ducky One TKL RGB while good, does not feel as solid as the CM QFR-i. Perhaps it is partly due to it being lighter? However, the case edges feel and look nicer as they are bevelled, no flex. Also, the case does not have the "rubbery" coating/finish found on the CM QFR-i, which I prefer. Keycaps are nice double shot ABS.

This time round, I went for MX Brown switch and must say that I am loving it over the MX red of the CM QFR-i. There's the tactile feel without the intrusive clicky-ness of MX Blue.

Programing of the RGB lighting could have been better approached by Ducky with a software instead of the pains of doing it via the keyboard physically.

Lastly, capslock key is permanently lighted. To know which case you are on, you will have to rely on the indicator light above the INS key.

RRP currently is RM589 for this.

EDIT : The cable that come with it is too short (possible only 1.5 metres) and unbraided.

When you say it isn't as solid, do you feel the plastic is thinner, or the any creaking or flexing of the case?

QUOTE(Koki @ Jun 10 2016, 04:03 PM)
Gotta say that I agree with these parts that I quoted. I got one Ducky One TKL non-backlit myself.
The rubbery feel is mostly depending on your own preference, though I like the Ducky One's smooth housing instead.
Regarding the stabilizers, I find myself sometimes double-pressing spacebars without noticing as Cherry MX stabilizers tend to have that effect.

Also do note that the non-backlit version of the Ducky One TKL apparently ships with backlit keycaps. If you look at your keyboard a lot, it's quite an eyesore TBH.

I bought some LEDs from taobao and awaiting delivery, soldering my Ducky One TKL non-backlit with some orange LED soon  tongue.gif

Backlit keys? Product picture is supposed to be the orange/red on black right?

Mind uploading a picture of yours?

As I wrote, there's no flexing. Compared to the CM QFR-I, the Ducky One is slightly smaller, more "sleek". Dimensions as follows:

CM QFR-I : 359 x 138 x 39 mm, 0.932kg
Ducky One TKL RGB : 356.6 x 133 x 41 mm, 1.1kg

That's what I thought too. Turns out that's not the case for the TKL version. If you're getting the full-sized non-backlit version, you'll get the orange on black keycaps

Actually, you have a whole bunch of alternatives for keycaps if you are not into backlit. PBT types are by far, the best. Add on dyesub feature, feels like heaven for your fingers!

So you'll mod your ducky one into LEDs one? Will you add extra part such as resistor/diodes for the LEDs? I'm quite curious since I have Ducky One full size non back-lit now, thinking about buying some LED socket myself. Will your keyboard has the function to turn the LEDs on/off?

I was learning about setting up a open source forum software called Discourse and finally set it up. But don't know what to do with it. And since I really like mech keyboard and yet is not able to follow this ever changing, fast paced mech keyboard thread that is also very rojak, do you guys think you want to bring some of these discussion over there? Sort of like a malaysia mech keyboard forum. What do you think?

I looked into that, tried finding orange/black keycaps like the Ducky One full size non-backlit but no avail. So might as well do it.

As far as I know, both backlit and non-backlit has exact same components minus the LEDs. According to one of the posts by Ducky Keyboard, which states the non-backlit version can be upgraded by simply changing the firmware.
That actually made me wonder, why did Ducky bother to have two different firmwares in the first place then? sweat.gif

Yes, I was looking for it as well but ultimately got the 87 (1st gen) in the end. Now still waiting for it to reach me. Anyway, seems like the 2nd gen is not available there? Or perhaps it's in a different name? Can't even find it in Royal's official webpage. Either that or am doing it wrong...  bangwall.gif

I found 2nd gen topre clone 108, correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry I didn't see this yesterday. I got some images of the PCB few pages back, it looks like there's resistors on the board already.
Anyway I try soldering one of the LED first when it arrives. I'll report back.
