Hello fellow veterans, does anyone have a first hand experience or knowledge regarding the the build quality between filco and ducky?

I'm deciding between the filco's tkl and ducky's http://www.duckychannel.com.tw/page-en/Duc...KL-non-backlit/ or http://www.duckychannel.com.tw/page-en/Ducky-One-TKL/

There is quite a difference in price. Any reason I should pick one over the other?

Build quality Ducky par with Filco. But for Filco, it's using costar stabilizer, so it have better typing feel compared to Ducky's Cherry stabilizers. Both are from same OEM in Taiwan.

So, if you looking for non-backlit, get Filco. Otherwise, get Ducky.

Thanks for the input! Just for curiosity, are there any other brands I should be awake of for tkl style keyboards?

QUOTE(imbibug @ Jun 9 2016, 10:06 PM)
Yeah I agree that they are close enough to be comparable.

Why isn't Kuzumi Taiga's link for cheap Lingyi/Aula keyboards in your 1st post? And the the CM QFR-i should be removed from the recommended list due  to the high rate of led failures, or at least a disclaimer about the issue.
*
Thanks for the input! I was considering the QFR-i initially, but was put down by the led issues too. However, i read that most led failures are from the first batch, and subsequent batches are getting better. Don't quote me on it though, just something I read from somewhere else.

Woot! Ducky One TKL RGB arrived. Going to pick mine up tomorrow, brown switch!

Build quality of the Ducky One TKL RGB while good, does not feel as solid as the CM QFR-i. Perhaps it is partly due to it being lighter? However, the case edges feel and look nicer as they are bevelled, no flex. Also, the case does not have the "rubbery" coating/finish found on the CM QFR-i, which I prefer. Keycaps are nice double shot ABS.

This time round, I went for MX Brown switch and must say that I am loving it over the MX red of the CM QFR-i. There's the tactile feel without the intrusive clicky-ness of MX Blue.

Programing of the RGB lighting could have been better approached by Ducky with a software instead of the pains of doing it via the keyboard physically.

Lastly, capslock key is permanently lighted. To know which case you are on, you will have to rely on the indicator light above the INS key.

RRP currently is RM589 for this.

EDIT : The cable that come with it is too short (possible only 1.5 metres) and unbraided.
*
When you say it isn't as solid, do you feel the plastic is thinner, or the any creaking or flexing of the case?

QUOTE(Koki @ Jun 10 2016, 04:03 PM)
Gotta say that I agree with these parts that I quoted. I got one Ducky One TKL non-backlit myself.
The rubbery feel is mostly depending on your own preference, though I like the Ducky One's smooth housing instead.
Regarding the stabilizers, I find myself sometimes double-pressing spacebars without noticing as Cherry MX stabilizers tend to have that effect.

Also do note that the non-backlit version of the Ducky One TKL apparently ships with backlit keycaps. If you look at your keyboard a lot, it's quite an eyesore TBH.

I bought some LEDs from taobao and awaiting delivery, soldering my Ducky One TKL non-backlit with some orange LED soon  tongue.gif

Backlit keys? Product picture is supposed to be the orange/red on black right?

Mind uploading a picture of yours?

As I wrote, there's no flexing. Compared to the CM QFR-I, the Ducky One is slightly smaller, more "sleek".  Dimensions as follows:

CM QFR-I : 359 x 138 x 39 mm, 0.932kg
Ducky One TKL RGB : 356.6 x 133 x 41 mm, 1.1kg
*
Interesting how the ducky is heavier even though its smaller.

I'm quite satisfy with my CM Storm QF Stealth. I wonder if I want to upgrade/change, what model bring similar design as Stealth?
*
Just off the top of my head, filco majestouch ninja tkl, leopold fc750r, varmilo vb87. Btw,, where did you purchase your QF stealth? I tried looking for it previously and couldn't find any.

Thanks for suggestion. Last time already do research on Filco, Ducky and few models on reddit. Now forgot already.
For my Stealth I can't remember where did I buy from. Might be from Lazada, or Garage. Only cheapo TKL mechanical keyboard but got good recommendation from redditor IMO.
*
Yea it looks kinda neat and I thought it would be a cheaper alternative compared to the more well known "keyboard" brands. Couldn't find it anywhere at all.

QUOTE(Koki @ Jun 12 2016, 03:25 AM)
I know CM keyboards are well-renowned here, but I thought of weighing my own experiences in.
I got a Rapid-i last time. Didn't like it because of the placement of FN key. IMO they should've taken the right Windows key instead of the Menu key.

I'm not sure if CM still does that now, but it's something to note. Why I chose he Ducky One now is because of the DIP switches at the back to change the FN key to the Menu key outright.
*
CM keyboards started to gain their reputation thanks to the initial QFR, where they shared the same oem manufacturer as filco.

Wear dem gloves to preserve the sanctity of your keyboard.

I bought it from a local store. They check the rest of the stocks. All of them has the popped space-bar. Sigh. Lousy QC Dear CM. Did not tell them about the mushy keys though, I think they'll come back like "no la, it feels like same". Will reflect to them on the next visit. Shoulda went with Vb87m with gaterons instead. Any vb87m owners here? Wonder hows the Bluetooth connection? Read that it needs to be re-paired on each windows startup. What about latency?
*
Can't vouch for CM. However, speaking of mushy keys from gaming peripheral brands, few years back I had some mushy key issues with one of razer's keyboards. I took this to the local store, they took me seriously and had it sent for warranty. I got a replacement, not sure if brand new or refurbished, but in the very least the replacement unit had no issues.

Maybe this will encourage you to give your local store a shot and see if they're professional in what they do. Fingers crossed for you, good luck!

So the only choice left to me is a blind purchase. I've only tried hhkb and realforce, afaik from the articles and comments I read online, there's quite a difference between these two and the novatouch, I hope the difference wouldn't be that big.

I have consulted Cooler Master PR, and they said they do not know the store selling in the lelong.  sad.gif
If need any help, you can pm me.

So there's no guarantee of getting the product when purchasing from that store in lelong?
