Hi guys, I'm new here and I'd really like to learn some more stuff about mechanical keyboards, and are browns and blues just differ in the click sound? I've been dying to find a Filco Majestouch Ninja myself actually sad.gif
Wanted to find second hand, but kinda difficult.

I've reviewed a few MKBs on NLT (link in my sig, not a promo), particularly the red and blue, from both Kailh and Cherry.
I never really owned an MKB myself, and I think it's time to jump since my Microsoft keyboard is dying on me.

EDIT: Actually I wanna ask, any MKB with the Menu Key intact?

Filco Majestouch series should be your best bet. Else you might want to consider swapping button on software side with Keytweak. Personally I had swapped my right control for menu key and had been sticking with that since then.

Edit: Found out Ducky Zero has menu key as well (right Windows key sacrificed). Price is much more pocket friendly too.

Hey thanks for the reply. I didn't know about keytweak, thanks a lot biggrin.gif
I couldn't find any Ducky Zero available for sale though cry.gif Price does seem very great

Whoa... after reviewing some mechanical keyboards and you can still stay using on membranes for so long???  shocking.gif

Well frankly there are two reasons... Firstly my 5 year old keyboard and mouse comes in a set, but since and I got an RoG Gladius the set now becomes a keyboard alone. Keyboard was also creaking when I press a little harder
Secondly is because MiskinBro™

Anyway, ducky zero is plate mounted with double shot key caps?

Guys I'm a little new to this keycap game, but I see that many of you guys here (and many others) prefer PBT over ABS.
Is it because of the durability of PBT from wear and tear (oil from finger)?
Also, PBT has a rough surface compared to ABS no?

Last question - advantages of PBT dye-sub?

Ayy yo I'm back to report something on the Ducky One. Apparently the stabs on spacebar has a metal wire connecting both sides together.
No wonder the spacebar is so stiff!

Hey guys, I'm finally back after a few months (???) and I'm now a proud owner of the Ducky One TKL, non-backlit version.

The set I got was a little funny, it's the last unit available at that shop that moment, so I grabbed it. That guy told me it was supposed to have black keycaps with orange printings, but now it's actually backlit-compatible keycaps.

Here's my question - how do you actually solder LEDs to the Ducky One? How does it actually work after I soldered them?

The stock that came to Malaysia, only the full-sized ones were orange-on-black. The TKL ones are backlit-compatible
Check if the board already has resistors pre-installed. If there are, then it's very easy to just add LEDs
*
Ah, I thought all of the non-backlit versions are shipped with the orange-on-black keycaps.
Anyway here are some shots of the PCB. Not sure if there are resistors on it, but it seems like it.
It doesn't seem to have any cues to differentiate which hole is negative or positive though hmm.gif

Also, some bonus shot for lolz while I was at it.

looks like the LED holes on the PCB are pre-soldered. you will have to desolder them before you can continue inserting LEDs sweat.gif
*
Yeah and there are no label on positive or negative terminal on the PCB itself for the LED hmm.gif
Also, there are compatible resistors right? sweat.gif

Build quality of the Ducky One TKL RGB while good, does not feel as solid as the CM QFR-i. Perhaps it is partly due to it being lighter? However, the case edges feel and look nicer as they are bevelled, no flex. Also, the case does not have the "rubbery" coating/finish found on the CM QFR-i, which I prefer. Keycaps are nice double shot ABS.

This time round, I went for MX Brown switch and must say that I am loving it over the MX red of the CM QFR-i. There's the tactile feel without the intrusive clicky-ness of MX Blue.

Programing of the RGB lighting could have been better approached by Ducky with a software instead of the pains of doing it via the keyboard physically.

Lastly, capslock key is permanently lighted. To know which case you are on, you will have to rely on the indicator light above the INS key.

RRP currently is RM589 for this.

EDIT : The cable that come with it is too short (possible only 1.5 metres) and unbraided.
*
Gotta say that I agree with these parts that I quoted. I got one Ducky One TKL non-backlit myself.
The rubbery feel is mostly depending on your own preference, though I like the Ducky One's smooth housing instead.
Regarding the stabilizers, I find myself sometimes double-pressing spacebars without noticing as Cherry MX stabilizers tend to have that effect.

Also do note that the non-backlit version of the Ducky One TKL apparently ships with backlit keycaps. If you look at your keyboard a lot, it's quite an eyesore TBH.

I bought some LEDs from taobao and awaiting delivery, soldering my Ducky One TKL non-backlit with some orange LED soon tongue.gif

When you say it isn't as solid, do you feel the plastic is thinner, or the any creaking or flexing of the case?
Backlit keys? Product picture is supposed to be the orange/red on black right?

Mind uploading a picture of yours?
*
That's what I thought too. Turns out that's not the case for the TKL version. If you're getting the full-sized non-backlit version, you'll get the orange on black keycaps
