I am using a yellowflower (黄花) brand solder. It's cheap and reliable, so far have worked on quite a few PCB without any issue, though my skill is still bad. The total price was around RM60 shipped iinm

Care to share more info like the wattage of your soldering iron? Did you bought from Taobao? I thought electronic items must have SIRIM certified sticker? hmm.gif Otherwise I'll have to pay RM100 for the SIRIM sticker... shakehead.gif

Get a good one,Hakko..cost less than 50 bucks for a normal 30W one, little slow to reach the optimum temperature but it's would last quite long if u take good care of it

No use yellow flower before. But I personally would prefer to use good quality soldering station. Don't want to risk spoiling my keyboard with cheap ones sweat.gif

hakko is definitely highly recommended if you have the budget and going to invest into this hobby. (or if you have other things that you have to solder)

for me, at least get a soldering station with adjustable temperature and also make sure it has other safety feature like ESD safe. get a few different good soldering tips as well.

I believe this is the one I'm using Yellow Flower No.907 . It is 60W and adjustable temp between 200-450 degC and I have no problem buying via taobao into Malaysia. While searching, I come across this interesting one, solder + soldapullt in one

Can go to Pasar Road in KL to buy, lots of selection. A good investment will be cordless gas solder iron, and a good long powerful sucker.

Also get a good Lead and basic multi-meter.

Is GH60 PCB already installed all the SMD resistor and diodes, shortcuts like FN+(X)=Home,End, media keys etc? I favours the Poker 2 because I can swap the switches without doing much soldering. Standard layout exactly like Poker 2 is what I'm okay with. I find it'd be challenging for me in case I need to solder those part myself, most I can go with is solder switches and LEDs. I'd rather pay for pre-installed non LEDs and switches parts. shakehead.gif

In addition, I have like zero experience about soldering so I think it's a bad idea to solder anything other than switches and LEDs. So I've found this GH60 set on Taobao website, there's one selection stated it's included 4 short stabilizer, 1 long stabilizer. I have no idea what this third item is, does anyone know what this is?
*
You can choose the option to order GH60 board with eveything soldered except for switches and LED. And just another tip in making your life easier in the future, get SIP 0.1' pin (in spoiler) to be inserted in the switches, so you can easily swap out / replace the led.

Taobao can buy but the bottom row (LCTRL to RCTRL except for Alt) you need to specifically buy diff. Usually within 10 days will arrive.
