Hey guys, will the Cherry MX switches break in over time? I'm sick of the inconsistency of Cherry switches.

I have owned 2 Filcos (Blue and Brown) and 1 Ducky (Blue). I love the the Browns and Blues on the Filcos whereas the Blues on the Ducky are stiff as hell. Borrowed another Razer BW with Blues (Cherry ones) from a friend and they felt lighter and smoother. Now, I just bought a Cooler Master Pro S with Reds but these feels like a freaking Black switch to me. Felt mushy while bottoming out. It's another totally different experience when I type on my friend's K70 with reds. Maybe it's the backplate? I wonder if I should pick up a G810 with Romer-G switches and say bye bye to Cherry.

Damn. sad.gif

If I'm not wrong, mx blue has quite a lot of problems these days and some inconsistency problem.
On the red switch, maybe you need aren't used to the lighter actuation force yet? Use it for a few more days and you probably will get used to it.
If not, just get a TOPRE!

I don't know man. These Reds feels super stiff compare to other Reds I've tried. Besides, Cherry stabiliser is a freaking abomination. The Space-bar that came with it couldn't fit into the stabiliser. It pop out if I hit it on the side. Topre is gonna burn my wallet if I'm up for it. besides . I have not tried a Topre before. Anywhere that I can try it?

Will it be a good idea to spray some silicone spray to its cherry stabilizer and Cherry MX Red switches? My Ducky One keyboard is just around 2 months old, what I'm trying to achieve is smoother typing experience and to reduce the switches' sound, I did install some ordinarily transparent O rings to dampen the sound. My keyboard uses Taihao double-shot key caps instead of the stock key caps. One of the problem I have is the spacebar of the Taihao is too damn loud on the my Ducky One MKB even with double O rings, which is why i still using stock space bar key caps.

I've search online about silicone spray and there are myths about how it'll eats off rubber and plastic. However, I've seen this silicone spray sold at local store and online. It's made in Malaysia. Specially developed to lubricate, clean and protect most automotive parts, window gliding groove, fan belt, door joints, battery terminals and many more. This new formulation is safe and gentle to all rubber and vinyl surfaces.

The ingredient it contains is petroleum distillates(that's all it says).  Some people are mystified by the name itself “petroleum distillates”, but that is exactly what they are — products made from crude oil that have been distilled in a refinery and then usually processed further and purified in some manner. Source: http://www.protectall.com/artpetdist.aspx

Some guy also says that they used silicone spray which contains also petroleum distillates and their rubix cube is fine.

If it's not a good idea to use it, can someone suggest me where and which lubricants can i buy online? Sorry for wall of text...

TLDR: Silicone spray can use? If not please suggest one lubricants that I can buy through online thanks.

petroleum based lube will eat away at the plastics so its not recommended for lubing your switches.

To me, unclipped cherry stabiliser really sucks, I prefer costar more than everything.
I'm not from KL, but I think maybe Lowyat got a few shops got sample to try it out?

I have not seen any shop putting on sample to try, in PJ At least. My first keyboard was a Ducky Shine 3 and I never thought how bad it was until I moved to Filco and that consistent typing feel across the board blew me away. Kinda regret I get the Pro S with these cherry stabs. Damn RGB hype. I'm getting a G810.

Yes, I was looking for it as well but ultimately got the 87 (1st gen) in the end. Now still waiting for it to reach me. Anyway, seems like the 2nd gen is not available there? Or perhaps it's in a different name? Can't even find it in Royal's official webpage. Either that or am doing it wrong... bangwall.gif

I don't think there'll be much difference for the name, I've searched for RK RC930-108 but found nothing. It could be that RK has made exclusive deal with Massdrop to release their 2nd generation RC930-108 on Massdrop first. confused.gif blink.gif
