Around MYR600. For the amount of money spend, is this worth it? biggrin.gif

quite switches

actually, I havent got the chance to test any of the switches and how do mechanical keyboards feel different from the normal laptop keyboard I am currently using. So I'm quite confused on what type of switches I should go for. I know for sure some have the clicky sound and some don't. I would prefer a quite one.

So another question, why do I even need a mechanical keyboard? Does it make my typing experience better? or are there some other benefits from getting these type of keyboards?

Thank you again

It seems like you are asking us to convince you to make the jump. blink.gif
You can listen to all sorts of sound the mecha keys make via youtube but there are no ways for anyone to explain it to you via texts. Just go to Low Yat and try out all those sample keyboards. Feel it and then you'll know laptop keyboard are bloody rubbish. biggrin.gif

Has anyone found royal kludge rc930 topre clone 2nd generation with 108 keys instead of 104 yet on Taobao? Please share link with me if you found it or have any resource about saying when it will be sold on taobao. So far i only seen the one Massdrop sells...
*
Yes, I was looking for it as well but ultimately got the 87 (1st gen) in the end. Now still waiting for it to reach me. Anyway, seems like the 2nd gen is not available there? Or perhaps it's in a different name? Can't even find it in Royal's official webpage. Either that or am doing it wrong... bangwall.gif

how many keyboard do you guys have? should i get 2 set? 1 set brown, 1 set blue.

is k70 blue switch good for gaming?

its clicky but i am not sure how good it is after playing for a few hours. going to shop pressing a few times cannot tell me much laugh.gif
*
The first switch I bought was a red one. Then I tried with blue, brown and now finally black. The blue is just too noisy for me. Then the brown is a little bit in the middle but I'm not getting the feels for the tactile bump. Next is the black. It was okay at first. Good feel to it as it's basically a heavier red... but then I started to feel a bit fatigue with my left ring and pinky finger (shift and ctrl presses). In the end, I went back to red as my daily driver. smile.gif

I'm waiting for my Royal Kludge Topre clone now. Will see if this is able to replace my reds or not. smile.gif

Anyone have experience with Royal Kludge's RC930-87 here? I just got my board and been trying it out since the morning. Ran into some issues with it. Once a while I will have the board sort of froze on me. I mean the back-lighting is lit. I can still toggle it on or off. Somehow, I cannot type or register any other keys.

and one of the LED is faulty. the colour seems off...

Since I'm planning to get one for myself, care to share from whom did you bought it? Maybe it's manufacture defect. If it's me I would try to plug it in other laptop to see if it's really the keyboard's fault.
*
I bought this from Taobao. From this guy/girl:
https://world.tmall.com/item/43367765788.ht...0714.0.0.rxbR1J

Anyway, I found out the culprit. It's the USB extension cable I'm using. Maybe it's the extra voltage needed to power the keyboard. As long as I do not fiddle with the LED brightness or LED cycle, it will work fine. Anyway, now I'm plugging it straight to my laptop and it's working like a charm. smile.gif

So, from my short use since this morning, I can safely say this is so going to replace my red switch! Never tried Topre or the Novatouch before but the sound made by this thing... thok thok thok... icon_idea.gif

I just got mine and I'm unimpressed to say the least.

The quality of the moulded plastic case is shoddy (worse than many membrane kbs), the sliders are scratchy on both the upstroke & downstroke (I would go as far as to say they are unusable without lubrication), the RGB modes are bleh, and 3 of my keycaps have HOLES in them!  blink.gif

user posted image

These are just a few of my grievances. I could go on and on, but at the end of the day the RK930 is definitely NOT an accurate reflection of what Topre is supposed to feel like. Rather, it is a cheap bastardized version of the Topre experience mainly because of these factors:
1) Scratchy action
2) Factory dental bands
3) Length of sliders adjusted to compensate for said dental bands (this affects the key travel distance, more so if you choose to remove the dental bands)
4) Questionable dome weighting (55g RC930 feels lighter than 55g Topre)

No way will this board make it as part of my rotation, let alone become my daily driver. To anybody that wants to own Topre but can't yet afford one: Save your money. This is not a shortcut answer. I am surprised this board got a good review on Massdrop, now I know why Geekhack people always complain that Massdrop people are noobs.

If you have not tried a proper Topre (or at least a Novatouch) before, you now have a dilemma - choose to be ignorant and not try it just so you'll be oblivious to how bad the RK930 is in comparison - or try it and you might end up throwing your RK930 away.
I suggest you don't.
*
ouch... I guess it's not up to your standards then. I kinda look into keychatter's review rather than those on massdrop... but maybe their's are rubbish as well.

I think you need to mention about the price difference between them as well? Your comparison is akin to burning our normal cars because we haven't driven any Royce before. Just sayin.

Keychatter/livingspeedbump is a respected reviewer. I just googled his review and I have to totally agree with these parts:
The problem is the hype from noobs on Massdrop & to some extent Reddit have blown ppl's expectations (including mine) to unreasonable levels. So it was a letdown when I got the RC930.

However, I have to disagree with this:
Mine has obvious flex when I try twisting it with wrist power. I don't dare try twisting it with arm power. And I'm still pissed off about the holes in my keycaps  mad.gif
*
Hahaha... Ikr... Them holes on 3 of those keys. They punched it just to let the LED light tru. Lol...

Yes. I think it's their cheap way on showing the caps lock, scroll lock and the programming indicator LED.

Ah ok. After looking closely at keychatter's pics, I believe his caps have holes too. I wonder why he did not mention this.

Just discovered a faulty LED as well. What a piece of crap. This board is confirmed the worst MKB I've ever owned.

I managed to sort out the LED issue, as expected the LED itself was okay but the resistor was busted.

I couldn't find the exact SMD resistor so I used a regular one instead.

Looks ugly but works perfectly. Will desolder & replace it with the proper SMD resistor once I've taobao-ed it.

wow! Nice! This is for my future project if I can find some time for this! Thanks for the updates on this. smile.gif

It's an easy mod, you won't need to spend a lot of time on it  smile.gif

Opening the casing shouldn't take you more than 20 minutes if it's your first time (or 10 minutes if you're experienced).

The actual soldering takes only 5 minutes.
*
haha... you also need to take into consideration the last time I actually hold up a damn soldering iron was like... ummmm... my high school? and I'm in my mid 30s now. LOL~

Any Ducky one TKL non backlit user here? Thinking of getting one with mx brown here... Is the keyboard worth the money? Im actually selling my older blue filco to buy the new ducky brown. Is it moneywise? Need some enlightenment
*
Was an owner of Filco blue switch before and also a current owner of Ducky Zero 2108. Sold my Filco just because the switch is not my taste. Built wise, I can say it's better then my Ducky Zero. Not sure about Ducky One. I would say, keep you Filco. smile.gif

The price is as expected with these SA caps... but the ship date... man... that's just ultra potong stim la... T_T
