How's the Gateron RGB switches btw? Good? I'm getting bored of my Deathadder Chroma TE... Have anyone tried the new Cherry MX speed switches? I'd prefer tenkeyless due to the size of my table.. Maybe the new K65 RGB MX Speed..

TLDR: Looking for people to trade red or brown switch keyboard w/ my 8mths old CMS QF TK
Hi everyone, im new here, actually joined LY forum quite awhile but not really active. Anyway i got myself a Leopold FC900R - Red Case w/ Blue switches recently in Korea. So i took my previous CMS Quickfire TK(8 months-ish old) to work w/ Blue switches also..and I feel its kindda too noisy for work, Is there anyone interested to do a keyboard trade? something of similar value but its either red or brown switch |

Rotating back to the HHKB for some writing work. Zealios are great all-around switches, but nothing compares to the snap of Topre domes

Just a quick question. Is the corsair strafe not that good when compared to other keyboards?
Because as I have been reading in this forum, most of you guys have been using a lot more various types of keyboards. So do you have any suggestions for me other than buying the Strafe, is there any other option which is better? Thank you in advance |

QUOTE(Raimi0808 @ May 20 2016, 10:54 AM) Just a quick question. Is the corsair strafe not that good when compared to other keyboards? "Gaming" keyboards are considered tacky and overpriced in the Mechanical Keyboard community. There's nothing wrong with them, of course, but they're almost always limited to linear switches ie. Brown, Red.Because as I have been reading in this forum, most of you guys have been using a lot more various types of keyboards. Will it be a good idea to spray some silicone spray to its cherry stabilizer and Cherry MX Red switches? My Ducky One keyboard is just around 2 months old, what I'm trying to achieve is smoother typing experience and to reduce the switches' sound, I did install some ordinarily transparent O rings to dampen the sound. My keyboard uses Taihao double-shot key caps instead of the stock key caps. One of the problem I have is the spacebar of the Taihao is too damn loud on the my Ducky One MKB even with double O rings, which is why i still using stock space bar key caps.
I've search online about silicone spray and there are myths about how it'll eats off rubber and plastic. However, I've seen this silicone spray sold at local store and online. It's made in Malaysia. Specially developed to lubricate, clean and protect most automotive parts, window gliding groove, fan belt, door joints, battery terminals and many more. This new formulation is safe and gentle to all rubber and vinyl surfaces. http://www.sgcarmart.com/products/overview.php?ID=7404 http://www.waxco.net/product/?page=3&sort=...rd=&category=13 The ingredient it contains is petroleum distillates(that's all it says). Some people are mystified by the name itself “petroleum distillates”, but that is exactly what they are — products made from crude oil that have been distilled in a refinery and then usually processed further and purified in some manner. Source: http://www.protectall.com/artpetdist.aspx Some guy also says that they used silicone spray which contains also petroleum distillates and their rubix cube is fine. https://www.speedsolving.com/forum/threads/...oleum-bad.4583/ If it's not a good idea to use it, can someone suggest me where and which lubricants can i buy online? Sorry for wall of text... TLDR: Silicone spray can use? If not please suggest one lubricants that I can buy through online thanks. |

So I'm quite confused on what type of switches I should go for. I know for sure some have the clicky sound and some don't. I would prefer a quite one. So another question, why do I even need a mechanical keyboard? Does it make my typing experience better? or are there some other benefits from getting these type of keyboards? Thank you again |

Thank you again You can listen to all sorts of sound the mecha keys make via youtube but there are no ways for anyone to explain it to you via texts. Just go to Low Yat and try out all those sample keyboards. Feel it and then you'll know laptop keyboard are bloody rubbish. |

QUOTE(hareezsyahmi @ May 20 2016, 06:57 PM) Anyone here is using Royal Kludge RC930-87 keyboard? I do own one...and it's my main at the moment. I have opted for the 55g version following comments that it resembles the 45g RF version. Wouldn't be able to compare it with a real topre, since I'm still on the lookout for one. Count me in if anyone wants to groupbuy it.I came across this particular topre-clone keyboard on massdrop and i found it is very interesting :3 I would really like to know the typing experience from any RC930-87 user here since this is my only option to own a 'topre' XD board The stock keycaps feels really cheap and suck, IMO. Perhaps I am used to the 'rough' surface feel of PBT blanks that I have grown very accustomed to. Backlights are cool, though not fully RGB and colors can be easily customised through a software which you can download. However, colors seemed bland. However, I'm not a big fan of backlights to begin with so they remain off for me the whole time. Initially, the feel was quite 'sandy', but after lubing the stems and critical contact points with Super Lube which you can get it from Ace Hardware, and putting on o-rings, the feel is a lot smoother and quieter (especially on the release) and the keyboard overall feels more solid with less free-play on the keys. No tactile feel like Browns. Note that the rubber dome is a single sheet unlike individual ones for each key like the RF, so you have to be very careful when separating it from the PCB to get to the stems. The springs fell out and I spent a lot of time putting them back on to their respective slots on the rubber dome sheet. I have also stuffed the case with a non-slip mat, just to make the case sturdier. No creaks now when you try to twist it. Case is still much lighter than the FILCO. IMO, not a board you would wanna open up very frequently. No detachable USB cable....but I'm not too bothered with that. Able to achieve 10-15 more wpm with it compared to my other boards - Cherry MX brown, black and blue (the slowest) switches. Overall, quite pleased with it. I got mine from Taobao...paid something like RM350 for it with shipping. Hope this helps. This post has been edited by tribaleps: May 20 2016, 08:08 PM |
