Any comm. of oath will do, they'll never bother to read but just rubber stamp your declaration.. e.g. I, MITODNA Of 9 JALAN TINGGI, KUALA LUMPUR etc.. you don't need any radio to have a callsign .. smile.gif Or do you mean you want to buy a radio .. you've just missed MARES monthly fleamarket .. or why not just go to one of the 'dealers' as per in the first post?

Are you talking about Wouxun KG-UVD1P dual-bander, dual watch HT?... RM998 is damn expensive... this HT is damn good though... I have two sets of this handy beside my FT8900R... I give this handy 5 stars... with the price, which is less than RM600, but the functionality is as good as the branded expensive HT... I have a friend who sell this less than RM600....

Amateur radio, often called ham radio, is both a hobby and a service in which participants, called "hams," use various types of radio communications equipment to communicate with other radio amateurs for public service, recreation and self-training.[1]

Amateur radio operators enjoy personal (and often worldwide) wireless communications with each other and are able to support their communities with emergency and disaster communications if necessary, while increasing their personal knowledge of electronics and radio theory. An estimated six million people throughout the world are regularly involved with amateur radio.[2]

The term "amateur" reflects the principle that Amateur Radio and its skilled operators are committed to helping communities without financial compensation; whereas Commercial Radio operates for profit.

I read Wiki, but it doesn't really say how people use this as other than communicating.

So do you guys have your own receiver, transmitter, repeater or do you use govenrment facilities to transmit signals?

Also is the communication link limited to area, city, states, country or international? Are each user assigned distinct frequency or you can choose the frequency within a range?

So is mainly like a long range multiway walkie talkie where anybody can talk to each other within the range? Something like handphone but doesn't require a service provider? Or do people broadcast music or speech?

Yes .. for some reason, MCMC won't issue us with AROC/license but with AA instead. I know it is funny, but living in BolehLand, anything boleh jadik.

Exactly .. ain't it funny.. but in Bolehland .. anything boleh!! AA in exchange of AROC/license. Anyway, it shouldn't take long .. the last time I did my daughter's AA, it took me around 15mins .. this is at MCMC Central Region Office, Shah Alam.

1. Search for RAE guide online, SKMM one is good, and study,
2. Wait for www.skmm.gov.my RAE (Radio Amateur Exam) announcement
3. Download the form to apply for exam
4. Buy money order of the exam fees
5. Submit the money order and exam application form the nearest SKMM office
6. Sit for exam
7. Wait for result
8. Apply a call sign

correct steps?

I will be buying a radio by February next year. Any suggestions?
I was thinking to get the ICOM V-8 (Lalat Hijau as they call it). Planning to sit for the RAE next year too and in the meantime I aim to join PRADAS. Any PRADAS member in here??

Just reach home from seminar RAE at seremban. For next year, MCMC plan to make 4 times RAE test (wilayah tengah) compare last time 2 times in a year.
