The examples on the videos posted on this "guru" website also misleading .. amateur radio operator in Malaysia has callsign started with 9W or 9M and not PR .. and the so-called police communication is actually a DBKL one .. hmm.........

*
sorry, i cant tell since i dont own any Garmin nuvi. it should be ok i think.

For now nobody can do it... yet.

Added on November 5, 2009, 6:31 pmThere are a huge debate going around on this Q codes. I for one don't believe one should be communicating in Q codes for normal conversation, unless the signal and audio is that bad whereby its hardly audible.

I guess its fun to use Q codes to make the normal human out there guessing hahaha. Generally these codes are use for Morse Code where it is too tedious to dit dah over a morse code keyer.

QSO just mean a conversation or communication. You can google all the q codes and it is taught when you are applying for a Ham Radio license and somehow someone started using it and the newer hammer got stuck with it. Its good to know what these codes are but using it during voice communication to me at least I dont agree.

Not only Radio but SMS too now have their own super short abbreviated words which makes me reaching for a panadol.

Anyway there are 2 distinct group of people and they basically dont get along well on this topic.  brows.gif

Some sample of a highly modified Malaysianised Q Codes are

QRX and dissapear
QRT monitoring <---- If you shut down your set how to monitor?
QSY ke coffee bean <---- Change Frequency to Coffee Bean?
5/9 tapi ada goreng pisang <--- how come 5 by 9 but got background noise?
QTH di mana <--- alamak
Roger have become QSL

Feel free to disagree with me  wub.gif
*
QRT means stop transmission. not shutdown the radio.
QSY means change frequency, not moving or going to somewhere

avoid using much of Q codes.
codes is suitable for cw operation. not voice.

Get the VX8 then, got errrrr Triple monitor  tongue.gif  Listen to Mix FM and monitor another 2 stations. When either one of the station is active, the mix fm would be muted then back to mix fm when stations are non active. All 3 have individual volume control.

BTW whats the 2nd price for the VX8. Anyone interested?
*
VX8 is interesting handy talkie, but the default battery only 1400mah.
better buy a larger capacity battery

Di antara :

Diamond SX27P
Diamond SX20C
Diamond SX40C

Manakah yang mudah digunakan / dibaca swr meter? Ada rakan2 yang boleh cadangkan tak....
*
mudah itu very subjective
kalau mudah bagi si A, belum tentu mudah bg si B
buy any of them, and read the manual.

SX20 if you intend to go HF one day. Very easy to use

SX200 more accurate but not that easy to use. Need to re-calibrate each time but once you get use to it. Ok also.

SX27 never use before.
*
see ?
very subjective.

for me SX 200, 400, 1000 or 2000 is easy to use

Read on .. and have fun .. but OM as he is .. talked about yester years .. talking about how great it was 40 years ago .. they're useless .. guess what, when I go back to my kampung and meet my grandma, she will continue talking how good it was years ago when she was young .. non-stop.. (opss she is 80+ now..) .. the same with this OM. He was talking about MARTS, how great it was .. and asking the young "9M2" to take the lead .. oh.. common .. why 9M2? Why not 9M6/8 or even 9W2/6/8? In this borderless world .. meeting can be done over the YM or facebook.. nothing much to differentiate the 9M and 9W nowdays other than one that pass the CW .. which has become absolute already.
