QUOTE(intune @ Mar 3 2007, 03:44 PM) Anyone? whats normal idle temp on core 2? You gotta check whether you re-seat your HSf correctly or not, LGA775 uses the stupid push pins sometimes can miss out one leg (not fully in). Either that or you over-apply the AS5, use 1/2 grain rice size (lebih kurang)

I reseat the hsf.. applying 1/2 grain AS5 .. Current coretemp: 44/42 Idle This post has been edited by intune: Mar 3 2007, 10:48 PM

If using stock HS, 44/42C should be normal gua...I am not too sure...they can get 30C to 40C mostly I think is use after market HS...

Ah, another Pentium D 8XX bro here.. the temps are very high for this series of processor. You could check if the thermal paste is applied correctly (remove previous thermal paste with Arctic Cleaner). Mine idles at around 50 also, and load go all the way to 80C and shutdown (mobo software protection) Probably should change your HSF to tower type like Scythe Ninja or similar...

Wow your temps are really high..suggest you reapply thermal paste to your proc...coz pentium d's especially the 8xx series will start to thermal throttle around 60C...which means less performance from the proc....

Yes but the TDP for 830 and above is 130W, 820 is 95W, thats the problem. Anyways a Noctua will be sweet on the 840, best to take that as a value-performance hsf...

Bought a CM Hyper TX Now idle at 40/37 Load no more then 55/52 Anyways have anyone tried applying AS5 on the hyper tx?.. because the Hyper tx comes with its own thermal pad. If so.. whats the best way to take the compound off without really damaging the base?? This post has been edited by intune: Mar 9 2007, 10:04 AM
