intel thermal analysis showed the same as coretemp...so which is reliable now?
*
hahaha...banyak hal la u... doh.gif
mmm...let me see..

mobo utility temp = speedfan temp = idle 36 and load at 57

coretemp = intel TAT = idle 50 and load at 68

Have u checked your bios reading? choose the temperature readings closest to the temperature shown in BIOS.

sorry for the trouble...

bios reading as close as mobo utility temp and speedfan temp.

mobo utility normally reads the same reading as the bios...

not necessary...my gigabyte mobo temperature reading softwares gave around 28C+ with stock cooler last time.... it's crap!! Then boot to Bios and it showed 50C+

i think i've read that some lyn forumer also complained about ridiculously lower temperature reading by mobo utility softwares, especially from gigabyte when i first upgraded my mobo to gigabyte long time ago.

for what I know, the bios' temperature reading, aka CPU temp, is the temp from the proc IHS whereas the core0/1 is the temp reading from the core. So, core0/1 temp will be higher and we more rely on the core0/1 temp.

Correct me if i'm wrong. smile.gif

Guys, I'm running into some problems here... cry.gif
What are the normal temperature for AMD 64 X2 4400+?

Using Everest to read the temps...

Temperature while idle would be...
CPU: 40 °C
GPU: 50 °C
Core1: 19 °C
Core2: 19 °C
Motherboard: 46 °C

and full load while running Futuremark 3DMark2006... icon_question.gif
CPU: 80 °C shocking.gif
GPU: 67 °C
Core1: 50 °C
Core2: 46 °C
Motherboard: 49 °C

PC Spec:
Stock HSF applied with AS5
AMD 64 X2 4400+ Brisbane 2.30GHz no overclocking
Asus M2N-E bios 1102
2GB EM2 Mushkin DDR800 kit
XFX 8600GT (650m) 256MB with Zalman cooling

I'm getting crazy temperatures, can it possibly because the way I apply the thermal paste? I just put a lil in the middle of the CPU.
Thanks in advance!

[edit]
p/s:
This is a new CPU. Just bought it on the 17th of January 2008. Should I go change it? I suspect there is something wrong with the CPU.
And the case is open...

my current load is 45 'c @ 3.0 ghz at 28 'c ambient temp

is dat okay?

Okay, the temperature reading from all software are the same. I used:
Asus PC Probe II
CoreTemp (read only for core 1 and core 2)
SpeedFan
Everest

All read 80 °C at FULL LOAD @ 2.30GHz/1.35v (stock speed, stock volt) shocking.gif
But, I managed to got it somewhere around 60 °C at FULL LOAD what I did was, I tried my bro's 4000+ (it didn't boot, dunno why... is it possible if we didn't connect the CPU fan it won't start? I think I plugged it in a different FAN connector tongue.gif ) and switched back to mine and... I tighten the heatsink holder (yes, the black thing stucked onto the motherboard). Because, before it was really really really hard to mount the stock HSF.

Gonna go do a few rounds of 3DMark06 just to make sure the temperature stays that way... Later~ Oh, and I think I'm gonna change the heatsink. Stock HSF is just awful... shakehead.gif

p/s:
IcEMoCHa, your signature with the fly/ant/insect tricked me to actually shoo it away... twice tongue.gif

edit:
Okay, the temperature now sticks at 66 °C at FULL LOAD. That should be okay rite? sweat.gif I mean, for a stock heat sink...

Hmm, will try. If fail, I'll go and RMA it.
Btw, what is the expected temperature value for 4400+ on stock HSF?
Thank you.

posting here instead, my thread let ppl close. doh.gif

first time creating a topic here.

first off, after upgrading graphics card from onboard gpu, i feel the temperatures of my pc have risen a bit and would like some advice on how to cool it down.

my specs are in my signature plus 2 120mm fans. the front one being intake and the back one exhaust. the front intake fan is a pretty weak rm12 fan and the exhaust is the one that comes with my casing (elite 330), the cooler on my gpu, i have no idea whether it is sucking in air or blowing it out. below is the layout. sorry, the cable management sucks i know. and my camera isnt any better as well.

forgot to mention that my PSU also has a 120mm fan blowing down IINM.

Attached Image

from the pic above, i seriously have no idea on how the air moves in my casing.

as requested, here are my current idle temps. im not sure how to check my temps on load. if someone could point that out to me it would be nice. i also have problems checking my temps for my GPU, rivatuner doesnt show anything, ATItool doesnt as well. =.=''

Attached Image

was thinking of getting some PCI cooling device but as u can see, the space between my PCI slots and GPU Cooler is very close. my side casing is transparent but has no holes for another fan. im planning to spend no more than RM50 (limited budget and kinda cheapskate) and hope at least cool down my system to a tolerable level. i would also prefer avoid loud components, anything above 23 dBa is out of the question. any suggestions?

btw, off topic, but anyone does know why my GPU is powered by 2 molex instead of one PCI-E power connector?

thanks for the help.

longpants, are you using Cooler Master Elite?
And if you don't mind, may I know your system spec and, idle and full load temperatures.
Thank you.

yup im using CM Elite 330/331.

as u can see my nick, my specs are AMD Athlon X2 6000+ - Asus M2N-E Mobo - Asus EN8800GT TOP - 320GB WD SATA - 2 x 1 GB Corsair 667 Value Ram - CM Elite 330 Casing - 460W CM eXtreme PSU..

i only monitor my load and idle for my gc : idle - 56-58C, load - 68-78C (depending on what game i play).

Okay, I read somewhere that the Brisbane DTS (digital temperature sensor) is broken. But not sure if this affects ALL generation or not. Mine is G2. Gotta dig up more on this.

I have an idea for you but not sure u will like it or not...first of all, change your 120mm fan which come with the elite 330 to front as intake...then go to buy Cooler Master economical package of silent fan 120 S12... Model number is R4-S2S-124K-GP...it have 4 120mm x 25mm fan which have 44.73CFM each and the noise level is 19.1 dB-A according to the spec given... icon_rolleyes.gif

As you dun want a fan more than 23dBa and not more than RM50...I can only suggest fan like that...else I will recommend Silverstone F121 or F122 which come with fan controller which have over 100CFM...and you can adjust the fan speed to the noise level you bearable with... laugh.gif

i wanna ask something about air flow. if i want a good airflow in my casing, should i put the intake and exhaust higher CFM is better, or as long there's airflow is enough? for HSF i'm using GeminII with Delta fan
